Today’s Board Member Spotlight:
Kristen Schoenborn!

Kristen has been on the board of CAAC for about 4 years, holding the titles of liaison to the theater program and director/project manager to the youth summer theater camp! Learn a little more about her below….

What inspired you to be apart of CAAC?
Dave Inbody’s encouragement- I performed in a few community theatre shows that he directed, my daughter participated in his summer youth theatre camp, and eventually I started helping out with theatre camp.

What do you enjoy most about serving on the CAAC board?
Finding new ways to engage with the community, especially with regards to community theatre. We have a very talented group of individuals surrounding us that possess many talents, from costume design, set design, marketing, or even performing. It is so rewarding to watch our community work together to create something beautiful. I am so excited to get Coopersville’s community theatre program back up and running!

Favorite thing about the coopersville community?
The small town, close-knit feel while still being located close to the lake and Grand Rapids. It is a wonderful place to raise a family.

What coming up in the future are you most excited about with CAAC?
Summer Youth Theatre Camp and their production of Mary Poppins Jr on June 19th & 20!!

Thank you Kristen for your years of work all you contribute!

What a practically perfect first week of camp! ☂️🪁✨
We are so proud of our actors and actresses! In just one week, they have officially learned the entire show—isn’t that something?
From singing with Ms. D, to dancing with Aunt Jamie, and blocking with Mrs. Shoenborn, these campers have worked hard, grown in confidence, and helped create a truly fantastic musical.
We can’t wait to see all they accomplish as performances get closer! Get excited and buy your tickets! 🎟️

Today’s Board Member Spotlight:
Megan Sorenson!

Megan has been on the board of CAAC for a total of 1 year, and recently became our new president! Learn a little about her below….

What inspired you to be apart of CAAC?
My desire to re-engage with the arts stems from a lifelong connection to performance and creative expression. After attending performing arts college, I returned home during the COVID-19 pandemic, became a single mother, and ultimately built a career as a licensed esthetician. Each of these experiences has shaped who I am today, both personally and professionally. Growing up immersed in the arts made me deeply aware of its lasting impact on personal development. Arts education fosters empathy, discipline, resilience, and compassion in ways that are difficult to replicate elsewhere. I strongly believe that every individual deserves access to these opportunities. It would be an honor to contribute to the mission of the Coopersville Area Arts Council by sharing my time, skills, and perspective to help support awareness, fundraising, and arts education within the community.

What do you enjoy most about serving on the CAAC board?
I enjoy the community outreach the most. I help with the summer camp by showing all of the students how to do their stage makeup for the show and it is one of the highlights of my summer

Favorite thing about the coopersville community?
My favorite thing about the Coopersville community is their love for their hometown in general. No matter what no matter where when you call, the community shows up.

What coming up in the future are you most excited about with CAAC?
I am most excited to plan and produce new and exciting events that cover a more wide range of age groups and activities!

Thank you Megan for all you contribute!
