Duckling season never stops, and unfortunately neither does hurricane season. 🦆🌀

On top of our sick/Injured patients and disabled residents, we’re receiving calls and texts every 10-15 minutes about orphaned ducklings needing immediate help.

For now, we are still here for patient admissions and available to help both ducklings and adult ducks in need. However, as we move deeper into the heart of hurricane season, we will begin slowing down admissions so we can fully prepare and protect our permanent residents.

This time of year is one of our busiest and most expensive seasons. If you’d like to help us through both baby season and hurricane season, please consider donating through the link in our bio or via Zelle at 954-646-0344.

The fiercest warriors aren’t always the showiest. 🦚

I raised this peacock from a hand sized chick, and somehow he grew up to become one of my most aggressive residents. While it may look like he’s putting on a romantic display for a peahen, he’s actually preparing for his favorite hobby brutally attacking me.

Not all of our residents are easygoing, but we love them all just the same. Some show their affection differently… and some choose violence. 😂

Country roads, open skies, and curious faces everywhere you turn. 🤍

One of my favorite things about living in rural Florida is being surrounded by so many incredible farm animals and native wildlife. From cattle and sheep to birds, gators, and everything in between, the Florida Everglades are full of life and beauty if you take the time to appreciate it. 🌾🐑🐊

These sweet sheep aren’t mine, but moments like this are exactly why I love calling the country home.

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. While we enjoy the beauty of Florida’s wild places, we never forget the sacrifices that made these freedoms possible.

The first 2 Purple Martin hatchlings are here! 💜🐦‍⬛
All of the other nests are still holding onto their eggs, but the new generation has officially begun.

As our martin flock continues to grow, updates can be a little harder to do without disturbing them but we’ll continue sharing what we can for educational purposes while always putting their wellbeing first.

Happy birthday to these tiny new arrivals. We can’t wait to watch them grow, fledge, and one day take flight across the South Florida skies.

🪶 Sanctuary Wildlife Spotlight 🪶

Hidden away in one of our dead pine trees is this Northern Flicker nest. What may look like just a dying tree to some is actually vital habitat for countless native species here in South Florida. 🌲

Northern Flickers play a huge role in our ecosystem. They help keep insect populations under control by feeding heavily on ants and beetles, and the nesting cavities they create later become homes for other wildlife including owls, songbirds, squirrels, and more.

Bird box 🫣 full of tiny peeps, sleepy eyes, and second chances. 🐥🖤

This is what baby season looks like for us dozens of little lives depending on kindness, warmth, and people willing to care. From sunrise to long after sunset, the calls never stop… and somehow these tiny ducklings make every exhausting moment worth it.

Every single one deserves the chance to grow up safe & loved! 🤍🐣♾️
