Last week, the Water Center traveled to the KY/TN Water Professionals Conference. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth, we really enjoyed chatting with you! We also had a blast teaching kids about nutrient pollution at Water for Life, a kid-friendly event that the conference hosts each year. Looking forward to next time!

On Monday, four students from Dr.Tania Datta's research group showcased their projects in the poster competition at the 2026 KY/TN Water Professionals Conference. Those four students, all from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at TN Tech, won first, second, and third place! Pictured are Grace White (first place), Kayti Gleckler and Sam Rogers (second place), and Gabriela de Almeida (third place). Congratulations!

Recently, five Tennessee Tech students showcased their research at the 2026 TN section of the AWRA conference. These students were: Gabriela De Almeida, Grace White, Jemima Obeng, Tori Denney, and Priyanka Bajracharya. Of those five, Gabriela won first place for her poster titled "Microplastics Quantification in the Effluent of Wastewater Treatment Plants Across Middle Tennessee" and Grace won second place for her poster titled "Integrating Modeling and Stakeholder Engagement to Develop a Watershed Plan for the Falling River Watershed". Congratulations!

Last week, Water Center Director Dr. Justin Murdock gave a presentation at the 2026 TN-AWRA conference titled "A Statewide Survey of Algal Blooms and Cyanotoxin Distribution In Tennessee Surface Waters." Graduate student Grace White also gave a presentation discussing her current project titled "Streamlining PLET Modeling for Watershed Planning in Tennessee.”
