Water Update:

Please conserve water as we continue to replenish the system.

Stage 2 of our water restoration process is complete. Stage 3 (hydrotank line) will begin later today.

Water update:

Water lines have been filled to the top of the mountain, we are currently working on filling the reservoirs at the top of Pine Ridge Dr. This means all homes except those on the hydrotank line (5465 Pine Ridge and above) should now have pressure.

Stage 2 of our water restoration process will continue tomorrow with Stage 3 likely beginning on Friday if not sooner.

Please see previously emailed instructions for bleeding air and sediment.

Water Update:

Stage 2 of water restoration begins today.

To all Pine Mountain Lakes water customers:

We are going to start up the water system this week and we would like for you to know what you can do to help the startup go as smoothly as possible. There will be 3 stages of restoring the water in the system. Stage 1 is the lower part of the mountain (everyone that's gravity fed by the nutbush water tank). Stage 2 will be everyone that's fed by the water tanks on top of the mountain. Stage 3 will be those fed by the hydro tank.

When your stage is being restored you can help by opening the outside hose bib or outside yard hydrant on your property. If you don't have an outside fixture on your property you could open the cold water side of a bathtub. This will help to allow the air in the lines to escape. After a steady flow of water is running, turn off the fixture. After we get the air out of the lines we will need to flush lines to get sediment out of the system. If you have sediment in your water, run the water on an outside tap for best results. It might take some time to get the system back to normal.

Another way you can help with restoring the water is by reporting any leaks you might find.

Thank you,

Boil Water Notice

A breach was found in a water storage tank (Nutbush) resulting in a potential for the introduction of disease-causing organisms into the water system serving the Pine Mountain Lakes Subdivision, Public Water System ID No. NC0112133, located in Burke County.

These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. They may pose a greater health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

What should I do? What does this mean?

As the water system is restarted we also recommend not using water until all sediment has cleared out of the system.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a vigorous boil, let it boil for one (1) minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

What is being done?

Contractors will be hired to assess the breach and provide a temporary solution and plans for a permanent solution. We will inform you when tests show no bacteria are present and you no longer need to boil your water. We currently do not have a scheduled date for these repairs.

This notice remains in effect until further written notification is issued.

Price Drilling was on-site again today. Unfortunately, they will not be returning again tonight as had been previously planned due to several phone calls from owners here who apparently have plans to sue them.

Hopefully they will be returning tomorrow.

WATER UPDATE:

Price Drilling will be back today completing repairs. They are finalizing their work as quickly as possible, attempting to reduce costs by rebuilding components. Parts for components have not always been available due to age. It is still anticipated that pumps will be started either today or over the weekend at which point they will coordinate next steps with our licensed Operator.

Daily updates will be posted here on our page.

Any new, major announcements will also be sent out by email as usual.
