Join Cabarrus Soil & Water Conservation for a week of fun, hands-on, and family-friendly events celebrating our local creeks, streams, and waterways!

From outdoor adventures and educational workshops to community cleanups and special activities, Creek Week offers something for all ages while inspiring stewardship of our natural resources. Please note the addition of several library programs and a litter sweep registration link.

Need your soil tested? Bring your soil samples to the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District! We send them off for testing on Thursday, September 3rd.

Soil testing helps ensure your land or garden is getting the nutrients it needs to thrive. Don’t miss out!

After November, the NC Department of Agriculture’s Agronomic Division will start charging $5/sample from December 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

During National Water Quality Month, we’re celebrating the connection between healthy soils and clean water.

Conservation practices like cover crops, reduced tillage, irrigation water management, and nutrient management can help increase water infiltration, reduce runoff, and keep valuable soil on the land and out of nearby streams. When producers invest in soil health, they’re also investing in cleaner water and more resilient working lands.

Learn more about how NRCS can work with producers to improve water quality while supporting productive farms and ranches by visiting a USDA Service Center in your area.

🌿 Help Us Turn Old Fabrics into Art! ♻️

We're collecting clean, reusable fabrics for our Creek Week Art Upcycle Project. Instead of throwing them away, help us transform them into creative artwork while keeping textiles out of our landfills!

We're looking for:
👕 Old T-shirts
🧵 Fabric scraps
🧺 Clean rags
🛏️ Sheets & pillowcases
🧼 Towels and other clean fabric

🧺 Please donate only items that are clean and dry. This helps ensure all materials can be safely reused in our art project.

📅 All donations must be received by September 22.

Every clean fabric donation helps reduce waste, supports a community art project, and celebrates Creek Week by protecting our local waterways.

Thank you for helping give old fabrics a new purpose!
