Cabarrus Soil & Water Conservation District had a great time participating in Student Track Day! 🌱🚜

Students visited our station to learn about the important work we do to conserve and protect our natural resources. Through hands-on activities, they used a clinometer to measure slope, explored how rainfall impacts soil and runoff with our rainfall simulator, and examined different soil layers to better understand what lies beneath our feet.

These interactive demonstrations helped students see how soil, water, and land management are connected and why conservation practices are important for protecting our environment.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn with us. We enjoyed sharing conservation education with the next generation!

Have you seen these road signs? They often sit at the county line, letting you know you're entering a Soil and Water Conservation District. Almost every district has one, but many people pass by them without knowing what they represent.

So what does a Soil and Water Conservation District do?

These local districts work with farmers, landowners, communities, and partners to protect and improve our natural resources. They help conserve soil, protect water quality, reduce erosion, support wildlife habitat, promote sustainable land management, and provide conservation education. Their work helps keep our land productive, our waterways healthy, and our communities resilient for future generations.

The next time you pass one of these signs, you'll know it marks an area where local conservation efforts are helping protect the natural resources we all depend on.

Bring your soil samples in and learn exactly what your soil needs for better plant and soil health! Healthy soil helps protect our local water quality by reducing runoff, erosion, and excess nutrients entering our waterways. 🌿

Drop off your samples at the Cabarrus Soil & Water Conservation District office by the first Thursday of each month so we can include them in our monthly shipment for testing.

Improving your soil starts with knowing what’s in it—bring in a sample and let us help you grow strong, sustainable landscapes while keeping our soil and water protected!

Thank you to all our amazing student winners and the dedicated teachers who encouraged and supported them throughout this year’s Conservation Contest! This year’s theme, “We All Live in a Watershed,” inspired some truly outstanding work.
