October 4-10 is National Fire Prevention Week

-Practice makes perfect! Fires occur unexpectedly. Create and practice a fire escape plan at least twice a year. Identify windows and doorways as the best options for escape route. established a meeting spot away from the home and plan on accounting for everyone.
-Practice opening and closing windows and designate emergency exits. In case of a fire, try to open the window first rather than breaking the glass.
-If remodeling at home, understand building code requirements. Egress windows should be large enough for you to escape through or rescue workers to enter during emergency situations.
-Have conversations with those living in the home to ensure everyone understand the escape route and plan.
-Don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors/fire alarms!
