RMFI had a little extra help this morning in Garden of the Gods! Our Trails Project Manager brought her kiddo out to lend a hand with some rock steps. Between full buckets and plenty of laughs, this honorary assistant crew leader made it a morning to remember out on the trails!

We had a wonderful weekend with some seriously awesome volunteers! The Coronado, Manitou, and Palmer High School mountain bike teams joined us at Red Rock Canyon to tackle tread maintenance on the Ft. Hayes Trail. Thank you for giving back to our trails and spending part of your weekend with us!

We also had volunteers out in Manitou helping build new trail at Black Canyon Open Space. It was such a fun day making progress in this new open space with all of you!

Big news from Manitou Springs!

Our crews have kicked off work at the new Black Canyon Open Space, and we couldn’t be more excited to start building trail on this stunning property. Rain or shine, the crews are out there getting it done!

RMFI crews have been hard at work! One crew has been in North Cheyenne Cañon, tackling projects throughout the park. They have worked on Mt. Muscoco, Spring Creek, and Upper Columbine—with plenty of work still to be done.

They recently finished repairing a section at the top of Upper Columbine that had become severely eroded, narrowing the trail and destabilizing the slope below it. Crews worked with volunteers to reestablish a wider trail tread while the crews installed a rock retaining wall to help stabilize this section of the trail.

🌟 Meet Carrie! 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Carrie as the Pikes Peak Outdoors Lead Ambassador.

Originally from Chicago, Carrie’s love for animals started at her city’s free zoo and grew into a career in zoo conservation, including time as an Animal Keeper at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

After nearly a decade, she shifted her focus to protecting the outdoor spaces she calls home in Colorado. She’s since worked as the Colorado State Advocate for Leave No Trace and Palmer Land Conservancy, helping people connect with and care for the outdoors.

Welcome, Carrie! 🌄

Love climbing at Shelf Road? Grab a pint, support the trails you love, and be part of the community that supports Shelf Road!

Help keep the trails accessible, sustainable, and maintained! Come out to Goat Patch Brewing on National Trails Day for a fun afternoon supporting RMFI's trail maintenance efforts at Shelf Road. We’ll have giveaways, challenge games, and more—plus great beer and even better company.

Funding for continued trail maintenance at Shelf Road has become limited due to reduced federal resources. RMFI needs your help to maintain climbing access—every dollar goes directly to boots-on-the-ground work on Shelf Road’s climbing access trails.
