Liz Lumsden also reported to us last weekend that Cloud’s son, Mato Ska, was very diligent in protecting his mares and was a little on the thin side from the constant pressure. With the summer grass, he will be able to recoup that weight.

Oracle is do***ng him “hard” and wants the band. Oracle is a force, but so is Mato Ska, so we will update you on what happens with this challenger.

Zani, Mato Ska’s 2025 blue roan foal, is another beautiful addition to his ‘band of blues.” Her mom is Prospera.

Almost all of the bands are on the mountaintop now, taking full advantage of the snowfields.

HOW CAN JUST ONE PERSON MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

What can you do for our wild horses? Here are some easy steps, something you can do once a week, and it takes less than 10 minutes:

1–Call the Capitol switchboard, (202-224-3121), and ask to be connected to your 2 Senators and US Representative. Make a quick 3-minute phone call to each.
3–Give your name, town, and phone number, and thank them for taking your call. 4–If you get Voicemail, that’s ok. They log each call by subject matter and give that to their Congressional member.
5–If you speak to an aide, explain to them that the SAFE ACT, (Senate Bill 775 and House Bill 1661), are important to you and our wild horses need their support. If they are already a sponsor of the bills, thank them. If not, encourage them to be a sponsor. If they pass this law, our forgotten horses and burros will be safe. There is a Senate Bill and a House Bill.
6–Put this on your calendar and make a call each week—so you are on a first-name basis with the office. Keep those elected officials on speed dial.

UNO, CLOUD’S GREAT GRANDSON, IS A YOUNG BACHELOR STALLION TO WATCH!

TCF friend, Liz Lumsden, went to the mountain in honor of Cloud’s 31st Birthday on Friday and shared some photos of UNO—Echo’s only son, who is 6 years old. UNO is the grandson of Bolder and the great- grandson of Cloud.

Liz observed that he spent most of his time harassing band stallions and relentlessly chasing mares. We wouldn’t be surprised to see him with a mare soon.

Thank you, Liz, for sharing your photos.

Today we celebrate Cloud!

31 years ago today, Ginger spotted a tottering pale, palomino c**t coming through the trees with his mom, Phoenix. What a journey it has been!

Through the lens of Ginger’s camera, she has shared and taught the world everything she has learned about our wild horses and burros—their daily life, the issues that surround them, and the challenges that lie ahead for them, however pretty or ugly they might be.

Here is Ginger’s video from 11 years ago today, when she found Cloud 2 months after he suffered the loss of his family to Inniq. She found Cloud grazing in a lush, spring meadow on Tillet Ridge, not far from the mountaintop. His ribs had filled out, and he looked strong and healthy again. Our small group even sang “Happy Birthday” to him.

We hope you will enjoy this video from that joyous day, and you will consider a birthday donation supporting the work of The Cloud Foundation in honor of Ginger’s 4 decades of filming our wild horses!

Bittersweet Update on a Pryor Legend: Garcia Needs Our Help! 🐴💔

At 20 years old, the beloved stallion Garcia has been permanently removed from his Pryor Mountain home after wandering beyond the range boundaries. After a tense scare that he might be sent straight to long-term holding, the Wheatland Off-Range Corral has agreed to a compassionate solution: offering him for adoption at tomorrow's event with a delayed pickup date.

The Plan: The Cloud Foundation will attend the live adoption event and bid for Garcia in hopes of giving this senior Pryor stallion a soft landing among people who know and care deeply about his history. Following a successful bid and medical clearance after gelding, Garcia will first travel to Dr. Lisa Jacobson’s facility for quarantine, veterinary care, and nutritional support to help him regain weight and strength. When Dr. Lisa feels he is ready, the hope is to transition Garcia to the Freedom Family area, where he can spend his days surrounded by fellow Pryor horses and compassionate care.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to stand with these horses and support efforts to keep Pryor families together and protected. 💛

We’ll be sharing updates from Friday’s adoption event, so stay tuned!👇✨
