The New Year brings big news for junior roller derby in Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, Hillside Community Center has decided that they will NOT renew our rental agreement in 2026. This, paired with lower membership numbers, means that effective immediately, Pikes Peak Junior Roller Derby program will be ON HIATUS.
While this is not the outcome we hoped for, our priority will always be to provide a safe, consistent, and quality program—and right now, we can’t guarantee the stability our juniors deserve.
What happens next
• all juniors practices are CANCELED until further notice
• we are actively exploring new practice space options and discussing ways to rebuild participation.
• we will share another update as circumstances change
A note to our current Juniors:
You matter. Each of you has had a real impact on your coaching team and we’ve seen so much positivity and reasons for joy—not just in your skills and gameplay, but in your energy, fierceness of being, and heart. Coaching you has been a privilege, and this pause doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made or the potential you carry. We hope you take with you the confidence, work ethic and respect for each other that we have tried to instill within you whether you choose to continue playing sports or translated into whatever else you do.
If looking to continue (or begin!) your junior roller derby journey during this hiatus, Denver Roller Derby Juniors will have a Recruit event that will take place on Jan 4th at 9:00 am at The Rollerdome (2375 S Delaware St, Denver, CO, US, 80223-4320). We will link the event in comments.

If you know of an affordable practice space (gym, rink, community center, warehouse-style space) that could work for roller derby, please email [email protected] with details.
Thank you for your understanding and for being part of this community. We care deeply about our juniors and are committed to bringing this program back. If you have any questions, please let us know.
