The mission of CPCD is to prepare children for success in school and life Last year, CPCD's waiting list topped 1,000.

Founded in 1987, CPCD was spun-off from Catholic Charities to simply manage the Head Start program in El Paso County. At that time, CPCD was funded to serve 300 children. We now reach nearly six times that number through Head Start, Early Head Start and the Colorado Preschool Program. CPCD now serves 1,801 families with children, ages 0-5, who are living in limited-income households, have special

needs or are experiencing other difficult circumstances that could challenge their readiness for kindergarten. The agency operates 60+ classrooms in six local school districts. In addition to education, CPCD provides health, behavioral health, transportation, nutrition, home visits and family services. CPCD currently employs approximately 350 staff members. Both of these numbers may increase as we continue our ongoing expansion.

We’re so grateful to Gries Family Charity for helping 37 CPCD children prepare for the school year ahead! Each child received $100 in back-to-school essentials, including clothing and school supplies. Thank you for investing in our children and supporting CPCD families. Today, we gathered for our Welcome Back All Staff Meeting to kick off an exciting new school year with the educators and professionals who make CPCD’s mission possible every day.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Lisa Roy, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, who joined us in celebrating our staff and the important work they do for children and families across our community.

Our President and CEO, Dr. Stacie Datteri, also inspired staff with a powerful reminder of the lasting difference they make each day and encouraged everyone to approach the year ahead with purpose, passion, and commitment.

We’re grateful for our incredible CPCD team and excited for another year of building strong foundations, creating opportunities, and making a difference—one child and family at a time. 💚

🎨💜A huge THANK YOU to the National Charity League Colorado Springs Chapter volunteers who joined us on July 18!

More than 80 volunteers came together to paint our Fort Carson building, transforming the space into a brighter, more welcoming environment for the children and families we serve. Their teamwork, dedication, and willingness to give back made an incredible impact in just one day.
