We had our 8th annual Kiwanis/First Tee golf outing at Valley Hi Golf Course on August 3rd. Both Kiwanis and First Tee focus on improving the lives of our youth so it’s great to have a joint activity!

Thanks to all our amazing volunteers, sponsors, adult and youth golfers, and Valley Hi Staff for a fun morning of golf and brunch.

Sponsors from across our community, and our own Club Foundation donated $15,000 to First Tee – Southern Colorado.

We are so proud of our club and community for stepping up to help kids!

Yesterday we donated snacks to the Ronald McDonald House for those who need to be housed near Children’s Hospital. This is a service that we provide each month, and our heart goes out to those families and children at the Ronald McDonald House.

We had a great Saturday morning supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization that builds and delivers beds, mattresses, and bedding for local youth throughout our community who do not have beds to sleep on.

Thanks to all our members (including families), sister club members from Monument Hill Kiwanis, members of the Colorado Springs Police Cadet Program, and High Plains Fellowship who came out to support!

Together we stained and branded headboards and footboards for 40+ beds, sanded and stained side rails for 50 + beds, and assembled bed slats for 40+ beds.

Thanks too to the Sleep In Heavenly Sleep volunteers for hosting us.

Following the morning activities we adjourned to Bubba’s 33 off Powers for a great lunch and much needed refreshments! This also served as a fundraiser for our Colorado Springs Kiwanis Foundation, since Bubba’s rebates 15% of the total bills to non-profit charities!

Thanks again to all for a great, and very productive day!

Last week we began to look forward to our signature project – Our Kiwanis/First Tee Golf outing. We met at First Tee – Southern Colorado where they explained how our yearly golf outing provides support to hundreds of kids in our community to build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do. This is the 8th year for our golf outing. Mark your calendars now for our golf outing on Aug 3rd. Come out and have fun while helping kids.
