At Watson Junior High, we take immense pride in our military community. To show our gratitude and to help provide support to those who serve or have served, we are honored to announce that the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will be visiting our school to host a comprehensive VA Informational Clinic.
Whether you are currently on active duty or a veteran, we invite you to sit down with an Accredited Service Officer to get the answers and benefits your family deserves.

May 1 of each year is “Silver Star Service Banner Day" to honor the wounded and ill soldiers of this state and the efforts of the Silver Star Families of America to honor the wounded and ill members of the United States armed forces and our veterans.

While there is often reference to the Silver Star Medal, it is actually unaffiliated to this day. The Silver Star Banner, like the Gold Star Banner and the Blue Star Banner denotes a service members status within the service.

Gold Star Banner - denotes a service member who was killed in the line of duty.
Silver Star Banner - denotes a service member who was injured in the line of duty.
Blue Star Banner - denotes a service member serving away from home.
