The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends sharing a room with your baby for at LEAST the first six months of life, ideally a full year, to reduce the risk of SIDS by approximately 50%.
Nighttime feedings are more convenient when baby is within arm’s reach. This keeps baby in a lighter state of sleep, which is protective against SIDS. It also helps maintain baby’s weight and mother’s milk supply.
Room sharing helps your baby maintain regular heart and breathing rates. Babies tend to mimic their mothers’ rates as they sleep.
Additionally, you will notice more quickly when baby needs you, and comfort them more quickly & easily.
