Friends,

Our hearts are breaking for Bend, Oregon.

Every time we share this article, it means something tragic has happened again and a community is suffering. We are filled with grief for the lives lost, for everyone who was hurt, and for all their loved ones. We grieve with Silver Rail Elementary School, with the whole Bend community, and with everyone near and far who is feeling this loss.

Children and the adults who care for them have the right to feel safe at school, at home, and in their neighborhoods. Each of us has a responsibility to act, on our own and together, to make this stop.

Our Teen Advisory Board is essential to ensuring that what we teach is relevant to their everyday experiences.

During their last meeting, they did a project identifying what they think parents, teachers, and peers need to know about their lives. Ellie shared the results at our staff retreat, and Iris presented them at our board meeting this week.

These teens inspire us and give us hope for the future. 💜

At Kidpower, we spend a lot of time in schools, working alongside teachers and seeing firsthand the heart, patience, and dedication teachers bring every day.

Teachers do so much more than teach, and we’re grateful for the way they show up for kids.

Happy World Teachers’ Day to all the incredible teachers in our community. 🤩
