Advocacy

We keep in touch with the local land management agencies, like the US Forest Service, Colorado State Parks, the Colorado Springs Parks Department, and the El Paso County Parks Department. By maintaining good communication with the agencies which control our parks & forests, we help them avoid problems with mountain cyclists before they happen. Trail Maintenance

We help to main

tain trails for city, state and federal agencies in the Pikes Peak region, along with other volunteer groups throughout the area. Some of the areas we have helped maintain include Palmer Park, Ute Valley Park, Garden of the Gods Park, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, and trails throughout Pike National Forest. Trail Building

With today's limited budgets, land management agencies are finding it harder and harder to build new trails for their users. Medicine Wheel steps in to help build trails that benefit all trail users and not just mountain bikers. Education & Outreach

We educate riders about being courteous to other trail users and about proper riding techniques and trail useage.

Trails stay open because people show up for them.
This weekend we joined Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park to clear the corridor on the Dixon Trail and the Mountain Loop — cutting back overgrowth, opening sightlines, giving these trails room to breathe.
On Saturday, runners in the Cheyenne Mountain Run 25km were among the first to move through the cleared corridor. Most of them will never know how much brush came out to make that possible. That's often how this work goes.
Thank you to Friends of CMSP for the invitation, and to everyone who spent a morning out there.

Whatcha doin' Sunday?
We still have spaces left for Trail Love on the Bristol-Mesa connector next to our office. We will meet at 830 to repair the trail and improve the space overall, and conclude with a BBQ for all volunteers.
We'd love to see you!

Blodgett Bike Hill is the result of years of vision, collaboration, and persistence.
From the start, MedWheel helped shape the master plan by providing early conceptual input, creating the first proposed trail map, and serving on an invitation-only steering group throughout the 18-month planning process.
We're proud that many of the ideas we brought forward were incorporated into the final trail plan—and even prouder to see that vision becoming reality.
