CONTROLLERS insult, embarrass, accuse, demean and even threaten people in an attempt to intimidate them into compulsive subservience. They thrive on control, keeping people guessing and making them feel small. They have to pressure and drive cooperation.
GODLY INFLUENCES encourage, instruct, inspire and deeply motivate people in ways that propel them to their highest possible level of authentic confidence, creativity, and noble achievement. They educate, empower and release. Because they listen to and call out the strength in those they influence, they easily elicit a genuine respect, admiration and eager participation.

“But Jesus called them to Himself, and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great leaders exercise authority over them. It will not be so among you, for whoever wishes to become great among you, shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you, shall be your slave.” Matt. 20:25-27
“Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid [unethical] gain, but with eagerness. Not as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble.” I Pet. 5:2-3,5
"Love one another deeply. Honor others as more important than yourselves." Romans 12:10
