Hello again, UCCS Mountain Lions!

With dead week keeping everyone busy, I have decided that the American Marketing Association will NOT be meeting tonight. This means that the UCCS-AMA will not be meeting again this semester.

If, however, you are not graduating this semester and are interested in leadership opportunities within the club next semester, please feel free to reach out to me as soon as you would like. I can help you settle in. Saramony Soap is still interested in flyer and business card designs and branding, so if you'd like to boost your resume that way, you can also reach out to me and I can put you in contact with Sara Anderson. Thank you to everyone who came out to the meetings and the tours! I have been enlightened after getting to learn about your interests in the marketing world. Hello again, UCCS Mountain Lions!

The UCCS Chapter of the American Marketing Association is going on our final marketing firm tour this week – this time to Vladimir Jones’s creative office in Denver. Our tour last week at the strategic office in Colorado Springs was incredibly insightful and they shared a lot of helpful hints regarding the skills that they’re looking for in upcoming applicants and how you can stand out from the crowd. With this being the AMA’s last agency tour this semester, you will not want to miss this.

We understand that Denver is a fairly lengthy drive from the university. Additionally, the tour should not take more than 90 to 120 minutes. As such, there is a free carpool available from UCCS to Vladimir Jones and back to UCCS. There is still room available, however students will need to contact Justin McConnell with the contact information below if they wish to reserve a spot. The carpool will be leaving from UCCS at 12:00 PM this Friday.

The American Marketing Association will be meeting this Wednesday evening! This week, we will be taking a breather as we head into the final stretch of Spring semester. As such, the big plan for this meeting is to have a bit of fun by playing a couple of marketing-related games, with prizes available to the winners!

We are going to start wrapping up our semester-long logo design project with a few finalized concepts. Saramony Soaps still needs at least 11 ad sizes, so if we have time, we will discuss that, as well.

Interested in advertising? Come join the UCCS American Marketing Association as we tour the local full-service advertising and digital agency, Vladimir Jones!

There will actually be 2 tours available this month at Vladimir Jones. This Friday, April 20th, we will be visiting the strategy-focused office located in Downtown Colorado Springs. Next Friday, April 27th, we will be visiting the creative-focused office located in Downtown Denver. There is currently free space available for the Denver carpool, so if you are interested, please contact Justin McConnell.

If you have any questions about advertising research and strategy, this Friday is the day to ask them! This is a fantastic opportunity to see how a large agency operates and if national-scale advertising might be the ideal career you see for your future self.

The next meeting for the UCCS American Marketing Association is set! Sara Anderson has given us even more feedback on the logo improvements we devised during our last meeting. This week we will be finalizing the logo design for Saramony Soap and hopefully we will have time to move on to other aspects of the branding project.

For anyone still interested in reduced membership costs with the national chapter of the American Marketing Association, I will be happy to walk you through the process, either in-person or via another form of communication! A reduced student AMA membership through UCCS equates to only $25 for a year of direct marketing news, job postings, events, and more! Plus, as a nationally recognized organization, a membership with the AMA is a very solid resume booster. This opportunity is only available to 7 students this semester; first come, first serve. Please let me know if you are interested in membership but cannot attend this week!

FYI We will not be having a Friday agency tour this week. However, we are scheduled to meet with Vladimir Jones on April 20th and April 27th! An official announcement with start times will be posted closer to those dates.

The next meeting for the UCCS American Marketing Association is set! We will be receiving feedback from Sara Anderson on the logos we discussed during our last meeting, and hopefully begin transitioning some of our focus to branding.

For anyone interested in membership with the national chapter of the American Marketing Association, you will definitely want to attend this meeting! Thanks to generous funding from Mr. Sandoval at Sandia, we can reimburse up to 7 current students for half of their AMA national membership fees. This equates to only $25 for a year of direct marketing news, job postings, events, and more! Plus, as a nationally recognized organization, a membership with the AMA is a very solid resume booster. This incredibly discounted opportunity is only available to 7 students this semester; first come, first serve. Please let me know if you are interested in membership but cannot attend this week!

As an added surprise, we may also be discussing a potential hiring opportunity this week.

Interested in advertising? Come join the UCCS American Marketing Association as we tour the local full-service advertising agency, Blakely + Company. We will be speaking directly with Kyle Blakely, CEO of Blakely + Company, as well as many of the friendly and experienced staff. The company is full-service, so if you have any questions about topics such as media purchasing, advertising creative, social media, PR, accounts, digital advertising, or more, this Friday is the day to ask them!
