Dear SA friends and alumni,

We are launching a new page for Sports Ambassadors! We hope you will join us there.

Also, please be aware that SA Jess from Sports Ambassadors in the Philippines may be reaching out to some of you for your latest contact information. We will be launching an alumni ministry that we hope will be a tremendous encouragement to you as we share stories of all God has done over the past 70+ years. If you are still connected to your old teammates, would you be willing to reach out to them on our behalf?

Sports Ambassadors is serving the Body of Christ with our overseas partners this summer. A basketball team just returned after ministering in Taiwan. Despite injuries, heat, and an earthquake, this team made of players ranging from 15-72 partnered with local churches and shared the Gospel with many along the southern coast and mountain areas. 42 years ago (1980), a group of young "Hoopers" traveled south to Guatemala during the Christmas season. What a joy it was for these guys to combine their love for Jesus and passion for basketball as they served alongside local churches in sharing the Christmas message that God became a man, lived among us, died for our sins, and rose again to reconcile us to God and give forgiveness and eternal life with HIM to all who believe!

Back in the 1980s, The Lord used Sports Ambassadors basketball teams mightily in the Philippines to help pastors and church planters connect with people in their communities to start up home Bible Studies. What a joy it was for this team in 1983 along with dozens of other teams to join with the Lord in this as they used their gifts and passion for basketball as a tool to serve alongside the Philippine churches!!!

Perhaps Romans 4:25 can help answer that. "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."...That is GOOD NEWS!

Imagine playing 2-3 basketball games a day in tropical heat and before bottled water. Imagine doing this for 4-5 weeks with most nights sleeping on a church floor (not carpeted). This is a snapshot of what many SA teams were able to do like this team to Bicol, Philippines back in 1982. Despite what we may deem discomforts, this team like countless others counted it a privilege and joy as they served alongside local churches in their efforts to bring the Good News of Jesus to communities using the tool of basketball!

In the 1980s Central America experienced political volatility. Yet, God brought this team SA basketball team together to serve alongside local churches in Honduras to bring the message that through faith in Jesus, one can have PEACE WITH GOD!

Back in 1984, SA made a short 45 min film based on a true story about how the Lord used a team to bring the Gospel to a rural area of the Philippines. The film is called, "No Ordinary Love". 30 years ago this coming summer, a group of young ladies from Coast to Coast Kids served alongside local churches in Guatemala. Through clinics and games, this team connected with many, showed the love of Jesus, and proclaimed HIS Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection.

In 2013, Mongolian local churches and Athletes in Action invited SA to partner with them in their work of spreading the Gospel of Jesus in and through sport. God brought together a group of men who loved Jesus and enjoyed basketball to embark in this work. Serving alongside pastors and AIA, the team played games, conducted clinics, and engaged in church services throughout Mongolia. The Gospel was shared with many and the Body of Christ was encouraged! Praise God!!!

In 1988, The Lord laid it upon a small group of individuals to use their talents and passion for basketball to help advance God's Kingdom. This team came alongside pastors and church planters in the Philippine Visayan region. They played a lot of games sharing their testimonies and Gospel with thousands. Many indicated interest to be followed up by the local pastors. At the end, the team was exhausted, but so thankful for new friends and being able to participate in what God was doing in the Philippines!
