By the time a conservation project is announced, months or even years of work have already been completed.
It's years of partnership, trust, and finding the right path forward so a place can be protected in a way that lasts.
Being ready to act when everything comes together is what makes this work possible, and that's where community support comes in.

It’s what allows us to sustain the work—alongside landowners and partners—which culminates in permanent protection.

If you want to help make more of this work possible, your support goes directly toward protecting land and water across Colorado.

Get Outdoors Day is coming up! It's a good reminder of why so many of us choose to live here. The trails, parks, lakes, open spaces, and everyday access to nature are a big part of life in the Pikes Peak region, and this event is all about helping more people find their way outside.

Palmer Land Conservancy will be there with resources to help you keep exploring, including our Field Guide to protected parks and open spaces across the region. Stop by our table, say hello, and pick up a copy while you’re there, and you can enter to win some Palmer sawg!

Palmer Land Conservancy is delighted to welcome Jamie Wilke Fine Art as our newest Business Partner!

Jamie Wilke is a Colorado landscape and wildlife artist who thrives on the varied natural beauty of her home in the small foothills town of Palmer Lake. She paints in watercolor and oil, drawing inspiration while running and hiking in the mountains, cross-country skiing, and gardening.

Jamie's commitment to conservation runs as deep as her love for the landscapes she paints. She donates a portion of her fine art sales to plant trees in national forests, working to protect the forests, landscapes, and animals that inspire her art. This dedication to preserving Colorado's natural beauty is why she chose to support Palmer's mission.

Thank you, Jamie Wilke Fine Art, for ensuring the Colorado we love today—its breathtaking vistas, diverse wildlife, and inspiring landscapes—is here for future generations.

You might not work in conservation, but you’re out there—on your favorite trail, at your go-to park, finding a little time outside when you can. Those moments matter more than you think.

The way you show up for those places, and the things you choose to care about, all play a role in keeping them what they are.

The Colorado Playbook: Small Actions, Big Impact is something we’ve put together to help connect everyday moments to the bigger picture, and to the places you care about most.

If that’s something you’d want to explore, you can download it here: https://go.palmerland.org/rciF

Some people find their way into conservation through the places they love.

For Charlie Campbell, it was also about carrying something forward.

After the loss of his daughter Heather, Charlie helped create the Heather Campbell Chaney Environmental Fellowship. A way to ensure her passion for conservation and education didn’t end with her.

For 25 years, that fellowship has supported young conservationists as they learn, work on the land, and build careers rooted in protecting it. Now, Charlie is working to make that impact permanent.

This is a story about legacy, about what it means to care for a place, and what it looks like to make that care last.

Most conservation projects take years to come together.

They’re built through relationships with landowners, careful planning, and extensive coordination to ensure the outcome works for the land, the water, and the people connected to it.

When everything lines up, that’s when we’re able to step in and help protect a place for the long term.
If you care about the land andwater that make Colorado special, you can support this work and help protect the Colorado Good Life.
