Last night we had a fun time at our new officer and director installation dinner for the new fiscal year starting July 1 at Carter Payne. President 3G Sheldon was sworn in by PDG Chip Ecks, Robbi Lacey presented the William L Smith Rotarian of the Year award to Rich Serby, Two Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) awards were given by lloyd Nordhausen to Janna Haas and Blake Schwank, and to top it off, we celebrated Max Calkin's 90th birthday! Current President, Jim Medalie was happy as he moved to the coveted Past President role!

Today we had Ross White, VP and General Manager of KOAA News5 talk to us about Scripps "If You Give a Child A Book" program. We've supported this cause for many years as part of our commitment to literacy in our community. KOAA and this program provided 15,000 books to elementary students. At our Wednesday club meeting, Jim Grice, of Pikes Peak United Way spoke to us about Dolly Parton Imagination Library. They supply books to 3 to 5 year olds with currently around 8500 families in our area benefitting from this program. As a club who has a focus on Literacy and Education we are pleased to support PPUW and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Today’s speaker at our Rotary Meeting was Dr. Michelle Ruehl, Executive Director and retired Air Force Colonel of StableStrides. (www. StableStrides.org). They work with the people in our community to help individuals with mental health issues, those with disabilities and learning difficulties, veterans, and those looking for leadership development. Horses are used to facilitate their work. They could use your support.
