Honoring those who served by taking WW II, Korea and Vietnam era veterans on a once in a lifetime trip to Washington DC to visit the memorials built to honor their service. Honor Flight of Southern Colorado is part of the Honor Flight Network, a national organization with a mission to celebrate America’s Veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials. Honor Flight o
f Southern Colorado has flown more 500 veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. On the three-day journey veterans visit the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, the US Marine Corps Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, the US Navy Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery to watch a Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Veterans can apply for an Honor flight through our website www.honorflightsoco.net. Volunteers can also apply through the same website. Veterans are selected for an Honor Flight based upon the following order of precedence:
1. WWII era veterans
2. Korean era veterans
3. Vietnam era veterans based upon the date they applied
**Terminally ill veterans from any era will be moved to the front of the list. In 2025, the cost to send a veteran on an Honor Flight with HFSOCO is $1200. This cost includes: transportation, lodging, food, and clothing for the entire Flight. Additionally, veterans and guardians are invited to a preflight lunch event in which the entire trip is reviewed, clothing is issued, and any questions are answered. The cost of the veteran trip also includes the cost for medical support to ensure the veterans are well cared for and a photographer to ensure the experienced is captured. Honor Flight of Southern Colorado is a 100% volunteer which operates solely on donations and fundraising. As of December 6, 2025 we have 357 veterans on our waitlist. Help us make this experience possible by volunteering or donating.
