Founded in 1984, the Empty Stocking Fund's mission is to spark the giving spirit of the Pikes Peak region to benefit local nonprofits serving neighbors in need. The Gazette-El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund provides resources for local health and human service agencies in the Pikes Peak region on the front lines of helping people in crisis and assisting others in attaining self-sufficiency.
Last year, the Empty Stocking Fund exceeded its goal and raised the highest amount in the history of the campaign, raising more than $1.7 million. We are hoping to surpass that mark again during the 2022-23 campaign to meet the growing demand for services in our community.
100% of the funds go directly to agencies to support those in need thanks to contributions by The Anschutz Foundation/Gazette Charities Foundation, El Pomar Foundation, Pikes Peak Community Foundation, JH Edmondson Foundation, The Gazette, and ADD STAFF. Community donations grow up to 45.3% thanks to matching donations from El Pomar Foundation, who matches $1 for every $3 raised, up to $200,000, and Bruni Foundation, who matches $1 for every $10 raised up to $100,000.
