SLM Outreach 5/16/26!
Of the people we met on Saturday, one young man wanted prayer for clarity for some personal future life plans. He had come out of a strong church background and was yearning for and tired of performance based religion. As we sat and chatted with him we asked him if he had received Jesus as his Lord and savior. He immediately said yes and then right after said...I think so.
Having been there ourselves we walked him through salvation scriptures and he received in order to be sure. We shared other scriptures and chatted for a while. And then we walked him through receiving the Holy Spirit and before we even finished the "repeat after me" part about receiving the Holy Spirit, he took a big long deep breath and was instantly impressed upon by God's Spirit. It was sweet :) to see God so visibly light him up and for him to know and say so too! He was excited and it was tangible. He was great to met and we hope to see him again at our weekly gatherings. Praise God!
Who is around you this week that is maybe wondering if they are saved or are tired of performance or works based religion? Or is it you? God is not impressed with our own works but is impressed with Jesus. Thankfully, believers are one with and in Christ.
Romans 10:9-10 King James Version
9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
1 Corinthians 6:17 King James Version
"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit."
Luke 11:13 New King James Version
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Romans 3:23-24 New Living Translation
23 "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins."
