When you’re trying to conceive, Mother’s Day can be hard. Fear. Grief. Numbness. Doubt. Let’s take a stand against all of that, by allowing the Word of God to water our hearts.

It’s so tempting to set a “I’ll be pregnant by then” deadline in our minds, (without hearing it from God) and then we force everything we DO hear from Him through that grid. Or, we can misinterpret it! I had a word from someone that I’d become pregnant around Christmas time. That DID happen, but it was FIVE Christmases later. You can imagine how I felt the four Christmases in between. The word was accurate, but I didn’t have a full understanding.

So while the Lord does sometimes share timing with us, unless he’s done that very clearly, simply hold to His word and know that He will be faithful in His timing. And stay in faith!

People don’t always know you’re struggling with infertility, and regardless, it’s never cool to say this. However, are we forgiving? Are we repenting from our own complaining and victim mentality?

Many years into my battle with infertility, a lady gave me a prophetic word. She had just met me and she said “You may work at a bank now, but you would rather be an artist. And when you create your art, God’s healing flows into you.”

I FELT the truth of that word, but I didn’t really understand it at the time.

But sure enough, it was during a season when I began putting a lot of time into my art that I finally became pregnant. Other things were happening in that season as well, and while I believe several things converged, I know that partnering with the creativeness of the Holy Spirit was pivotal.

For you it may not be art, but there is a creative inclination of SOME kind in every person. Maybe it’s decorating, learning a language, or baking. Whatever it is, make time for it in the normal rhythms of your life; it is medicine!

Side note: the art shown here is a painting commissioned by Becca Greenwood as a gift for Chuck Pierce at her Glory Gate conference last week. I was so honored to be part, and it stirred up the creative and prophetic side of me once again in new ways!

STRESS takes a toll on the body, including on fertility. We can’t always control how often we are exposed to stress, but to a large degree, our thoughts control how long we STAY in stress mode. What are some ways you can allow yourself to breathe and let go a little, to get your thoughts into peace?

You’ll be surprised what a difference it makes.

Your bloodline is designed to be a pipeline of gifts, abilities and creativity that increase as they are passed to each generation. Your bloodline is designed to be part of God’s plan and a blessing to the world.

I saw this so clearly watching my son’s delight as he browsed through my favorite art supplies in my favorite store. Not something I planned, and rather surprising since his personality is radically different than mine. But what a beautiful indicator that he will carry what his dad and I carry, in his own unique way, and to a greater degree.

When you fight to conceive your baby, that is not a selfish thing. You are fighting for the continuation of a specific DNA inheritance created by God to be a light in this dark world. You are fighting for the existence of a person who will have a purpose, calling, and impact.

In the words of Winston Churchill: Never give up.

“You’re getting too old.”
“But the doctor said…”
“But the odds are…”
“Statistically, you only have a small chance.”
“But what if you suffer another loss?”
“But you’ve been trying for YEARS.”
“What if you get your hopes up and it never happens?”

Those are spiritual intimidation tactics, but I’ve got your back, and we aren’t going to stand for that.

Listen, some of those things might be facts. Some might be risks. Some might have been your reality up until now. And I don’t minimize any pain you’ve suffered. But your past doesn’t have to be your future.

Say it with me now: My PAST doesn’t have to be my FUTURE.

You are a child of God, so ask the Lord what He wants for you. And if that’s a baby, fight for it with all you’ve got. Not by trying to make it happen in your own power, but by executing whatever strategy the Lord gives you. He WILL give you one. Look at the people in the Bible; He gave them very specific directions: look at Moses, look at Gideon, look at Joseph, look at the detailed strategy that came to Esther after she sought the Lord. And I’m not just talking about fertility treatments; the delay may be an invitation to heal something much deeper in you. So listen closely.

You know who doesn’t get a vote in how you proceed? Fear.
Renounce fear. Rebuke it. Evict it. Repent of any ways you’ve come into agreement with it.

Got has not given you a spirit of fear. 2 Tim 1:7
There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out all fear. 1 John 4:18

And don’t leave a void in your thoughts for fear to sneak back in; FILL them.
Write down scriptures and words from the Lord. Read them aloud each day. Have them saved where you can pull them out like a sword when fear tries to edge back in.

Fear is a bully; let’s kick it off the playground.
