The rinkhals snake has striking bands which are visible when they rear up and spread their hood.⁣

Whilst snakes can sport lethal venom and deathly aggression, they play a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling rodents and pests. ⁣

Every June, pink and purple rhododendron blooms appear along exposed mountain ridges along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail. These splashes of color highlight the rolling landscape’s already remarkable beauty.
