Big congratulations to Broomfield K9 Officer Cornett and K9 Zohan for being awarded the National Police Canine Association’s “Detection Case of the Quarter” for the Northwest Region – First Quarter 2026! 👏

Earlier this year, the team helped seize a significant amount of illegal drugs and recover a stolen gun during a traffic stop, showcasing the incredible work and dedication of our K9 Unit.

K9 Zohan has since officially retired from service after an outstanding career with the department. Thank you, Zohan, for your years of hard work and loyal service to the Broomfield community.

Officer Cornett is now partnered with a new pup, K9 Louie, and we can’t wait to see what this new team accomplishes together!

Attaboy Iggy!

Attaboy Iggy!

A big congratulations to one of our K-9 detectives and their K-9 Iggy, assigned to the West Metro Drug Task Force (WMDTF), for receiving the Quarterly Award from the National Police Canine Association - NPCA .

It all stems from a search warrant, when Iggy started showing a noticeable change in behavior and then ran down the hallway into a bedroom, where he sat right next to a large black suitcase – his way of saying there’s something fishy in here. Investigators began a search of the suitcase and located approximately 144 pounds of methamphetamine.

The suspect in this case pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 63 months in prison. Great work, detective, and K-9 Iggy, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

The West Metro Drug Task Force (WMDTF) is a multi-jurisdictional task force supported by the North Central High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program and includes officers from departments all over Hennepin County, including HCSO, Orono Police Department, Medina Police Department - MN, West Hennepin Public Safety, Minnetrista, South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, Edina Police & Fire Departments, City of Richfield Police Department, Eden Prairie Police Department, St. Louis Park, Minnesota Police Department, Minnetonka Police Department and Hopkins Police Department.

While everyone is sharing their kiddos’ school achievements at the end-of-year celebrations… here’s ours!

My hubby and K9 Roam were honored with a Patrol Case of the Quarter award today from the National Police Canine Association and I couldn’t be more proud.

Countless hours of training, dedication, teamwork, and sacrifice all wrapped into one incredible recognition! These dogs may not bring home report cards, but they show up every single day with loyalty, heart, and purpose.

Proud wife. Proud dog mom. Proud of this whole team.
