A reminder that TONIGHT the Public Education Alliance and Memorial Park Neighbor's Union is hosting Neighborhood Strong: Our Public Schools are NOT for Sale!. This is a special event where we'll hear stories from our neighbors about what their neighborhood and neighborhood schools have meant to them, reflect upon the future we want to live in, and identify how we can take action today to protect our neighborhoods and schools.

Our very own Mary Quinn will be sharing her story of what Mill Street has meant to her -- and what it was like to experience school closures over the course of some time. Let's show up and support our neighbors!

A time was had at the annual Mill St. Neighborhood Block
Party! We had a great afternoon having community with our neighbors, listening to live music by Forest Folk, enjoying pizza from Fat Sully's Pizza, and winning prizes provided by The NEXUS Community & Ritual Hot House. We couldn't have done it without our amazing neighbors and sponsors! 🎉

Join us for some Spring Cleaning!
The Mill Street Neighborhood's Annual Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for May 03, 2025, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at 900 Blk. Sahwatch St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 (and throughout the neighborhood)

Grab coffee, bagels, trash bags, gloves, and other supplies 900 block of Sahwatch St. (where it dead ends north of the railroad tracks)

A dumpster will be available on the 900 block of Sahwatch St. (north and south of the tracks from Friday 5/2 to Monday 5/5)

Our regularly scheduled neighborhood association is this Wednesday (11/13) at 6:30 pm. We are meeting in a new location -- 405 S Cascade Ave, Suite 204. The building is on the southeast corner of Cascade and Costilla and there are entrances off Cascade and Costilla. There are three visitor parking spaces in the lot off Cascade, which are the spots with sign posts but no signs saying "reserved for x." Otherwise, there is free street parking on Costilla west of Cascade and metered street parking on Cascade and Costilla in front of the building. If you're having trouble finding it, give me a call at (240) 421-7865.

We will be joined this month by John Crawford, manager of the city's Parking Enterprise, who will discuss with us potential solutions to parking issues created by the soccer stadium. We'll also hear updates on our neighborhood's ongoing campaign to win a Community Benefit Agreement covering the redevelopment of Martin Drake.

We are creating a Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) proposal for the good of the neighborhood.

Sooner or later, the City will redevelop the Drake Site. WE will be READY!

What’s a CBA?? A CBA is a legally binding agreement between a developer and neighborhood-led coalition in which the developer agrees to fulfill the wishes of the neighborhood in exchange for the coalition’s support of their project.
