There is so much to be thankful for this season. And the Air Academy NCOA is thankful for our wonderful members who helped to wrap 20 Angel Tree gifts last week. All these gifts will be headed to children on Fort Carson in the next few weeks for the holidays.

Yesterday, the Air Academy NCOA had the pleasure of presenting NCOA Vietnam War medallions to 16 Veterans. We honor their strength, resillience, and courage in serving our country, often carried out under incredibly difficult circumstances. Thank you to each of these Veterans for your bravery and sacrifice. We extend our deepest respects and gratitude today and always.

In July 2025, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) put out a request to MSOs and VSOs to assist with their upcoming Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill. The Air Academy Chapter NCOA heard and answered that call by sending a team of chapter members and local military servicemembers to support the September event. It was our honor to provide emotional support, guidance, and partnership through discussion to survivors as we met with various Senators and Representatives of the US Congress. Our team learned a great deal in those two days about the struggles survivors face after the loss of a loved one in service and the legislative process that is so vital to protecting the rights and benefits of servicemembers, veterans, and their families. Advocating for the rights of this community is a cornerstone of NCOA's founding and we believe should always be a priority for our membership. Partnered with our TAPS peers, our voices were loud on the Hill those two days and it was a privillege to be able to put that priority into action. Special thanks to NCOA's Legislative Director, Levi Sadr, for helping to make this experience possible and allowing our team the pleasure of seeing his hard work on the Hill in action. It's an experience we will never forget and hope to have the opportunity to partake in with NCOA members and military coalition partners alike in the future.

Air Academy NCOA members had the opportunity to attend the Snowball Express send off this past weekend at the Colorado Springs Airport. Each December, Snowball Express and it's parent organization, the Gary Sinise Foundation, host a five-day experience to Disney World for 1,750+ children of fallen servicemembers and first responders, along with the surviving spouse/guardian. Snowball Express supports a time of fun and entertainment as well as special time to honor those lost with a strong community of peers for support. NCOA was honored to be a part of this special event and wishes these families a time of fun and healing.

Air Academy NCOA is partnering with the USAFA AFSA Chaper to support Kristen Christy’s Operation Cool Homes initiative to provide portable A/C units to military families living in USAFA base housing. Currently, USAFA housing sits just under the temperature threshold required to be authorized air conditioning, leaving many military families facing months of the summer heat with no relief. Honorary 10th ABW Commander Kristen Christy has created a program to raise funds with a goal of purchasing as many portable A/Cs as possible to place in USAFA housing. What happens when you join a block party at the top of a mountain? It gets a little windy (like throwing a bounce house 15 feet in the air windy😳), but nothing this Colorado crew can't handle! Your Air Academy NCOA had a blast at the Air Force Academy Juneteenth block party this past weekend. We had a great time with our USAFA friends and chapter partners, filled with good food, music, dancing, and endless games. Looking forward to the celebration next year!
