Another year. Another outpouring of love.
Another beautiful reminder that Athena Rose’s life continues to shine through every act of kindness.

Today, my cousin Arem once again led a successful gift-giving activity for the cancer patients at the National Children’s Hospital in the Philippines 🇵🇭 — all in honor of our sweet girl.

And today is her 9th birthday… though she will forever be 3 years old in our arms, our memories, and our hearts. 🥀

Seeing those bags filled with love, hope, and prayers… seeing people come together to bring a moment of comfort to children and families walking the hardest path… it reminds me why we keep doing this…

Because Athena’s story didn’t end.
Her legacy lives on in every smile, every gift, every child reminded that they are resilient and strong! đź’Ż

To everyone who helped, supported, donated, prayed, or simply carried us in love, we thank you.
You’re part of the reason her light keeps reaching others.

For the kids still fighting: you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone. 🤍

And for our dear Athena Rose… on your 9th birthday in Heaven, Mom & Dad will always make sure your love is felt in this world. 💜🎗️💙

This month’s Kids Miryenda Feeding Program in Sta. Cruz, Manila is officially set — and I just want to say how grateful I am for my cousin Arem for always being part of missions like this. 🇵🇭

Thank you, Arem, for consistently showing up, serving, and supporting programs like these with so much heart. đź’ś

Because of your generosity, our nonprofit is able to take part in blessing these kids month after month, and Athena’s light continues to shine through every outreach. ✨

Thank you to Tau Gamma Phi Oroquieta Laguna Community Chapter for the continued partnership and for all you do for the community.

Forever grateful. 🌹

Thankful for grace, for growth, and for the God who never lets go. 🤎

I saw a post from one of the mom friends I have on FB which she shared a picture of her & her daughter… and it hit me hard.

This picture was taken on May 1st, 2020. I didn’t know it would be the very last photo I’d ever take with my daughter. Just 60 days later, on June 30th, she went to be with Jesus.

For Brian, his last photo with her was on May 22nd, 2020 right before her Broviac removal procedure. Neither of us realized, in those ordinary moments, that they would become the last.

I wish I had more. More photos. More videos. More proof of us together. But I can’t go back. All I can do is hold onto what I do have, and share this in hopes that maybe it reminds someone else: don’t wait.

Take the picture. Get in front of the camera, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t assume you’ll always have tomorrow. You just don’t know.

This may feel heavy, and I understand if you need to scroll past. But if you’ve read this far, I’d love to see your most recent one-on-one photo with your child (or DM it to me). Because those little snapshots? They’re priceless beyond measure.

Not every moment will be beautiful, but every moment with them is worth remembering. đź’ś

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
For the last 5 years, our family has shared daily facts every September & May for Brain Tumor Awareness Month, resources, and stories hoping to spread awareness in honor of our sweet Athena Rose. ✨

This year, we’re choosing a different pace. While we may not be posting every single day, our advocacy doesn’t end here. Childhood cancer is still deeply personal to us, and everything we’ve shared in years past remains on our page for anyone who wants to learn, understand, or take action.

The truth is raising awareness can feel heavy, especially when it seems unseen by those not directly affected. But even in our quiet moments, we carry Athena’s light and continue to advocate for families like ours. 🎗️

So if you’re reading this, I ask you: take a moment to learn a fact, support a family, or simply remember the children and angels fighting battles far too big for their little bodies. That’s how awareness grows, from hearts willing to see, even when it’s not their own story.

Always for you, Athena Rose. 🌹💛

5 years ago today, our daughter Athena Rose took her last breath on this side of heaven.

And every June 30th, we go to the top of Pikes Peak: the highest point in our city and I shout —

“I love you, Athena!” 🪽

Loud enough for the mountains to hear.
Loud enough to remind myself that grief and love don’t expire.

Over the years, people have said things like:
“You need to let go.”
“You should move on.”

But I won’t.

I won’t let go of the love.
I won’t “move on” like she didn’t matter.
And I will not be silenced.

Because her name deserves to be spoken.
Her story deserves to be honored.

And while we didn’t have another child, that wasn’t because we were stuck in the past.
It wasn’t fear.

It was a conscious decision — rooted in peace.
In healing.
In honoring what we’ve walked through and what we now carry.

We’ve chosen to pour our love into other families grieving like we once did.
Into a nonprofit that gives generously.
Into a mission that brings light into dark places.

Athena’s legacy is woven into everything we do — in the families we serve, in the business we’ve built, and in the peace we protect.

I miss her with every fiber of my being.
But I no longer live shattered.
I live on purpose.

Forever 3. Always ours. Always loved.

Say her name with me today:
Athena Rose. đź’ś

It’s The End of May But Never the End of the Fight🎗

As Brain Tumor Awareness Month comes to a close, our deepest hope is that this journey has opened your eyes especially as parents — to be more aware, more present, and more attuned to your child’s health.

We thought we caught it early.
We thought we knew.
But it was too late.

I don’t know what June will bring.
Re-living every moment of this month has already been agonizing. How do we face what comes next? đź’”

They told us kids are resilient. That’s why we called her .

She showed us what that word truly means: enduring treatments, surgeries, machines, and unimaginable pain — with a strength beyond her years.

There are children who are Survivors, some still in the trenches as Warriors, and others like Athena who were Taken far too soon.

Each child’s battle is different.
Each story deserves to be honored.
Please, take the time to remember them, advocate for them, and never stop sharing their names and their journeys.

We can’t fully express the importance of but we pray that one day, no parent will ever have to hear the words:
“Your child has cancer.”

That day can’t come soon enough.
