Hidden Magma Systems Inside Mars
Researchers at the University of Oxford have discovered evidence of vast, Earth-like magmatic systems buried deep beneath the Martian surface.
Using seismic data from NASA's InSight mission, scientists identified a distinct boundary 24 kilometers underground separating two distinct rock types, suggesting Mars once hosted enormous, interconnected systems of molten rock spanning hundreds or thousands of kilometers.
NASA's Roman Space Telescope Arrives in Florida
NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope arrived at Kennedy Space Center in Florida this week, ahead of its scheduled August 30 launch.
The observatory will undergo final testing, fueling, and integration before launching aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy to the Sun-Earth L2 point, where it will study dark energy, exoplanets, and the structure of the universe in unprecedented detail.
SpaceX Debuts Starfall
SpaceX launched its first Starfall reentry capsule on June 23 aboard a Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral, marking the debut of an entirely new class of spacecraft for the company.
The capsule uses nitrogen for attitude control, carries no liquid propellants, and is targeting splashdown in the Pacific Ocean roughly 700 nautical miles off the U.S. West Coast. At least one more demo mission is planned before the vehicle enters operational service.
