PARTICIPANT FEATURE

Alpenglow friends, meet Ali Belone, one of our participants!

Hey there, I'm Ali Belone and I've been learning the cello for the past two years. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I've dabbled in piano, alto saxophone, and electric guitar. I eventually started playing bass guitar at age 13 and have enjoyed recording music and playing in different types of bands for the last two decades.

My passion for the cello started in my early twenties. I rented a cello for only one month, but unfortunately, I quickly realized that I couldn’t afford the rental AND lessons. Gotta love those 20’s! Fast forward to 2020, I’m in my thirties - it’s the pandemic - and I experienced a lightning bolt of inspiration to pick up the cello again. Within two weeks, I found a teacher, rented a cello, and dove headfirst into lessons. It's been a nonstop love affair ever since, and I feel like the cello is my true home in the world of instruments.

"After a year of studying cello, I began hunting for a program that would welcome amateur adult players in a low-pressure setting, and finding Alpenglow was like a wish come true. Since participating in the summer and fall sessions, I've been blown away by my own progress. I am especially grateful for the incredible community that I have found with Alpenglow. Working with top-notch instructors and my fellow players has been a true joy! In the span of two years, my whole life has changed. To top it off, after volunteering regularly with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, I was thrilled to be offered a role as their marketing coordinator – I now get to live and breathe the orchestra community every day.

My dream is to go to music school someday and inspire people that it's never too late to follow your passion for music."
