Volunteers for Community

Volunteers for Community Enriching lives and celebrating nature in southern Colorado. Welcome to our page! Some of us volunteer a few hours a year, and some a few hours a week.

We're a bunch of friendly Southern Colorado folks of all ages, kids to seniors, who enjoy finding new ways to help out in our communities. We have more than 20 projects in three counties. One of them is sure to fit you! We help in elementary school classrooms, collect and distribute food, clean highways, make gifts for vets and others, recycle cardboard, and work in the community gardens we sponso

r. We have a huge gift-giving party every Christmas - this year we gave bags of presents to 76 Southern Colorado kids. Our dues are $5 and five hours of volunteering a year. You'll find more about us, and a more complete list of our doings, on our website, www.volunteersforcommunity.org Also, please consider a tax-deductible charitable contribution to Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community. We have no administrative overhead, since we are all volunteers! Your contribution goes directly into the communities we serve.

Today is the day - live music at the Susan Kalman Community Center (otherwise known as the VFC).

Second Sundays at Six with the Apache Creek Fiddlers - June 14th at 6 p.m.

Weather Update: Because of the rain and colder weather, we will be moving the concert indoors.

Our room can accommodate 80 people. We will have chairs set up.

We will have Wako's Snack Shack and ZO Lemonadish at our first concert of the summer. Order your dinner or dessert for the concert.

We ask that you please leave your fur babies at home for the concert. We ask that you please follow the Parking Lot Krewe instructions.

Please be mindful and respect the people that live in this area as well. There are children on this street so please drive slowly

PS We are looking for volunteers for the July/Aug/Sept concerts. We are especially in need of folks to help in the Parking Lot Krewe. How about it? Please message us here on Facebook or email me at Terry Wise - [email protected]

Saturday, June 13th (2nd Saturday of the month) will be cardboard recycling by the VFC (Susan Kalman Peaks to Prairie Community Center) in partnership with Valley Market.

Please note - this is always weather pending, but predictions are for good weather on Saturday.

Times are 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. behind Valey Market.

Please only household cardboard and not business cardboard. Please break down boxes. Cardboard should be dry and free of food (no pizza boxes).

It is possible that we will need to shut down early as we will have reached the limit.

If you have business cardboard or we need to shut down early, please bring your cardboard to Pueblo Recycle. Google them for their hours.

If you would like to volunteer for this project and be placed on the e
mail notification list - please email [email protected]

We are looking to add new volunteers to this Cardboard Recycling Krewe. Please email Kevin to talk. Without volunteers to operate the program safely, we cannot do the program.
