Colman Looney Days We have multiple community events in Colman, South Dakota.

We kick off these annual events with our Looney Days which is the second weekend in August, then comes Trunk or Treat in October and finally Looney Lights the first Friday in December!

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY….

Is your team/class or group looking for a fun and easy fundraiser opportunity? Well, we have good news!! We are looking for a sports team, Colman-Egan School District class, or local group to take on a Teen Bean Bag Tournament during the afternoon of Looney Days on Saturday, August 8th!

Looney Days will provide the bean bags and boards — your group would organize the rest, including sign-ups, entry fees, and running the tournament. Best of all, all proceeds raised will go directly back to your team, class, or group!

The Looney Days Committee will also be there to help answer questions, offer ideas, and give guidance along the way to make it as easy and successful as possible.

This is a great way to raise money, get involved during Looney Days, and have some fun with the community.

🎓 Looney Days Senior Scholarship

We started the Looney Days Senior Scholarship last year and we are excited to continue it this year! This year we will be doing (2) $400 scholarships. The Looney Days Scholarship is a community-based award created to honor and support graduating seniors from Colman-Egan High School who embody the spirit of Colman and the values of the Looney Days tradition. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate community involvement, strong character, and a desire to make a positive impact—whether locally or beyond. More than just academics, the Looney Days Scholarship celebrates students who have given back to their community, participated in local traditions, and shown resilience, leadership, and kindness throughout their high school journey. Applicants are encouraged to share their personal stories, future goals, and favorite memories of growing up in Colman. This scholarship is made possible by the Looney Days Committee and generous supporters who believe in investing in the future of our small-town youth.

While we’ll be creating individual Facebook events with all the details soon, we wanted to give you a heads-up now so you can mark your calendars and start planning.

…and thats a wrap on the 2025 Looney Lights!

It was such a wonderful event again this year and we are so glad we were able to put it on and that the weather stayed decent!

We want to say THANK YOU to…

Colman, South Dakota City of Colman, Grant and Kyle - for allowing us to put this event on and for cleaning up the snow as much as they could on Main Street
T&R Electric Supply Co., Inc. - for borrowing us a trailer for our amazing MC
Colman American Legion - Post 278 - for presenting the flags
CS Entertainment - Carter thank you for being our MC!

We also want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the generous people who gave towards the School Lunch Fund. There was a little over $1,000 raised that went straight to the Colman-Egan lunch Fund to help cover meals for students whose families are struggling to afford them!

Our float winners were #1 Scofield Family Livestock and #2 Jeff and Carrie Lebrun Family! Congratulations and way to go on those floats! They were beautiful!

We cannot believe that Looney Lights is here already! Oh how this year has flown by! The weather is looking to be not too terribly cold tonight but please make sure you are dressed warm!

We wanted to put a quick post out about FOOD! Because we are excited to not have to cook for our families tonight so we hope you are too!!

We want you to come hungry to the event tonight! We will be having DAKOTA JAX out of Madison, SD as our food truck! He has some amazing food - Tex Mex, BBQ, Burgers & More! You can order your food and head on into the Community Center to sit in the warmth and eat with your family! We just ask that you help us keep it clean by picking up after yourselves
