With great sadness, we announce the passing of Yeghpayr Goruon Hayrapetian, who passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Throughout his life, Y. Goruon remained deeply devoted to the Armenian community. He dedicated countless years to community service in San Francisco, including serving as a devoted scout leader and chairman of our Homenetmen chapter in 1993. He also held leadership roles within the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the Council of Armenian American Organizations of Northern California. He also helped preserve the Mount Davidson Cross as a memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Above all, Y. Goruon was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.
We are forever grateful for his years of dedication, leadership, and service to our community. His kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment touched the lives of so many and will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 4th, at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, located at 1510 E Mountain St, Glendale, CA 91207.
