It is that time of year again where agencies across the state participate in the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run as agencies carry the flame of hope as travels to Illinois State University for the 2026 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games. We are especially excited to support the many outstanding athletes from Region J who have qualified to compete.

The Collinsville Police Department is proud to participate in this year's Torch Run on Tuesday, June 9th, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Officers will carry the Flame of Hope from the Collinsville Police Department, down Main Street, north on Illinois Route 159/Vandalia Street, before passing the torch to the Maryville Police Department as it continues its journey toward the Summer Games.

We're also proud to have the longest leg of the Torch Run in our area. We’re not saying that makes us the best participating agency... but we’re also not saying it doesn’t. Coincidence? Probably. Evidence? Maybe. Either way, we’ll be carrying the torch a little farther than everyone else and will gladly accept any completely unofficial bragging rights that come with it.

We invite our community to come out along the route, cheer on the runners, and help celebrate the athletes who inspire us all through their dedication, perseverance, and competitive spirit.
