Not-so-Sunday scaries. 🖤

Remember Oreo? We shared his story many times, hoping the right person would welcome him into their home. We knew it wouldn’t be easy. Terrified and reactive, Oreo needed someone willing to see beyond his fear and give him the chance he deserved.

He had been living in a foster home where his foster parents provided a safe and caring space. Unfortunately, because of his behavioral challenges, his time there was coming to an end.

Thanks to Albert Harris Photography’s incredible storytelling and photography, Oreo’s story reached exactly the right person—hours away. Today, Oreo is safe and settling into a safe space of his own. He has a quiet space to decompress, receives pets and affection on his terms, and has a patient, experienced adopter supporting his journey.

Thank you to everyone who shared Oreo’s story. We are so happy he got the fresh start he needed.❤️‍🩹

🐾 Foster Friday 🗓️

❤️‍🩹Once again, we are asking our community to open your hearts and homes to foster cats in need. We currently have kittens all the way up to seniors who are simply looking for a safe place filled with love and care.

😓As many of you know, kitten season has hit every rescue and shelter incredibly hard, and nearly everyone is at capacity. We are stretched very thin and urgently need more fosters so we can continue helping cats get the medical care and placement they need.

💻We are tagged in multiple posts every single day asking for help with cats and kittens in need. While we are incredibly thankful that our nonprofit is getting the recognition and trust from the community to show that we are helping, we urgently need more fosters so that we can continue saying “yes” and continue saving lives.

🏡Many people think fostering means giving a cat free rein of the entire house, but that’s not the case. A spare bedroom, office, bathroom, or any small safe space can make a life-changing difference for a cat in need.

✍️If you are interested in fostering, please fill out our foster/adoption application. If you’re unable to foster right now, you can still help tremendously by sharing this post, leaving a comment, and liking it to help expand our outreach.

🙏And to all of our current fosters — thank you so much for everything you do. Your love, patience, and care are helping these babies flourish every single day. ❤️🐾

🐱 Please enjoy some pictures of a handful of kitties in our care.

🗓️On Monday night, Jessica — a friend and volunteer with Space Coast Feline Network — alerted Rachel and Johnathan about a cat who was lost, confused, and crying for help near Max Brewer Bridge. With no residential areas anywhere nearby, we can only imagine how frightened and disoriented she must have been.

🫡The team immediately headed to the area where kitty was spotted. It took some time to finally locate her, but once they did, every effort was made to get her to safety.

🪤Numerous traps were set and filled with enticing food, but she was simply too scared to go near them. After hours of waiting and hoping, the difficult decision was made to call it for the night.

⛅️The next morning, the team searched the area again on foot, but there was no sign of her.

🌘Tuesday night, they returned even more determined and prepared. Emotions were running high — anxiety, hope, fear, and moments of helplessness — all while fighting off swarms of mosquitoes and worrying about how dangerously close she was to the road.

🏆Then finally, after another long night, our president was able to successfully net her. Tears of relief were shed all around.

🍞That’s also how she got the name “Burnt Toast.” There’s a saying called the “Burnt Toast Theory” — the idea that sometimes life forces delays, detours, or difficult moments on us because they ultimately protect us from something worse and lead us somewhere safer. Being stranded so close to the road, with almost no chance of survival, Burnt Toast’s story felt like a reminder of that. Somehow, despite everything, he made it to the people who were meant to save her.

❤️‍🩹Now she is safe, loved, and has a bright future ahead of her. Once she arrived at her foster home, she regurgitated twigs and grass, further confirming just how hungry and desperate she had been, eating whatever she could just to survive.

😪This rescue is only a glimpse into the work that happens behind the scenes — the emotional roller coaster, the sleepless nights, the fear, the hope, and the unwavering determination to save a life.

🤎 Jessica was the catalyst for spotting her and helping us get her to safety, and we are so grateful.

🙏We may never know how Burnt Toast ended up out there alone, scared, starving, and fighting to survive. But what we do know is that from this moment forward, she will only know warmth, love, safety, and care. We will do everything in our power to ensure that.

✊Thank you to every single person who supports us and walks this journey alongside us. Always try to be the change you want to see in the world.

🗓️Last week, we posted about needing donations of wet food for all the cats and kittens in our care… and you all truly came through. The amount of support we received left us speechless and forever grateful.

🙏We always want to make it clear that without all of you, we simply could not do what we do. Your kindness helps us save lives, care for these kitties, and give them a chance to survive and thrive.

🐱Here are just a few photos of some of the donations we received — and they couldn’t have come at a better time. The very same day, we were alerted to a mama cat and her kittens living behind the TJ Maxx in Merritt Island.

🥺The kittens are only about five weeks old and were covered in fleas, which caused severe anemia. Without swift intervention, they likely would not have survived much longer. Thankfully, they are now safe in foster care, receiving treatment, and finally getting their little bellies full. Mama is in the process of being trapped.

❤️‍🩹This kitten season has overwhelmed every shelter and rescue, so please know that every donation of food, supplies, and funds goes directly toward lifesaving care for cats and kittens just like these.

🖤 From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for helping us help them. 🩶🐾
