We are so excited to share more information about Christmas on the Square! There will be an outdoor ice skating rink, carriage rides, holiday shopping, live entertainment, a life-size ❄snow globe, Christmas activities, and more Christmas magic still being planned!

Our museum and Historical Society are such a treasure to our community!

A Gift of Art and Local History

If you’ve ever crossed the old county line swinging bridge at Scott’s Camp near Iconium, or grown up hearing stories about it, this one’s for you.

On October 7, longtime museum member Lois Cason gave the Henry County Museum an original painting of that bridge by artist Ike Parker. Lois is also a charter member of the Henry County Historical Society, so this gift comes from someone who has been helping preserve our county’s story since the Society’s earliest days.

The presentation had a special guest. Ike Parker’s daughter, Glenda Hann (holding the framed artwork in the photo), was on hand to see her father’s work find its new home at the museum.

“We are extremely grateful to Lois for this generous gift and for her many years of dedication to the Henry County Historical Society,” said Meredith Cooper, Director of the Henry County Museum.

Parker’s painting captures a familiar piece of the area’s landscape and history. Gifts like this help the museum carry out its mission of “Connecting the Past to the Present for the Benefit of Future Generations” by preserving the people, places, and artwork that make Henry County’s history its own.
