The Michael A. Russo Memorial Scholarship Fund would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Cliffside Park Senior Activity Center for their generous $5,000 donation.

We would also like to thank the Cliffside Park Housing Authority, Executive Director Joseph Capano, the Housing Authority Commissioners, Mayor Thomas Calabrese, and the Borough Council for their continued support of our Foundation and our mission.

Because of the generosity of supporters like these, we are able to continue providing scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in the medical field, fund critical HLH research at Dr. Joseph Rocco’s laboratory at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and continue our advocacy efforts to raise awareness about HLH.

Thank you to everyone who supports our Foundation. Your generosity allows us to honor Michael’s legacy by making a difference in the lives of students, families, and those impacted by HLH.

The Michael A. Russo Memorial Scholarship Foundation was honored to be at one of Michael’s and ours favorite places tonight, the Academy of Our Lady of Grace.

This is the place where Michael learned many of the lessons that helped shape the person he became. AOLG taught him the importance of faith, compassion, perseverance, and treating others with kindness and respect. Father Peter played a significant role in helping to shape the person Michael was, and his influence continues to be felt by so many.

Traditionally, our foundation presents one scholarship to an AOLG student. This year, however, in honor and memory of Father Peter, we were proud to present three scholarships. In addition, one of our committee members, who held Father Peter in very high regard, generously donated an additional $1,000 scholarship through the foundation in his memory and honor. The donor wishes to remain anonymous.

This generous gift is a testament to Father Peter’s remarkable reach and the lasting impact he had on the lives of those around him. We are grateful to our anonymous donor for helping us continue Father Peter’s legacy of faith, kindness, and service.

We congratulate all of the graduates of AOLG and all of the scholarship recipients. As you begin the next chapter of your journey, we hope you carry with you the same values Michael learned here at AOLG; faith, kindness, compassion, and service to others.

Congratulations, and may God bless each of you as you move forward toward a bright and promising future continuing your Catholic education in High School.

Yesterday, Michael’s beautiful cousin Nicole married Christopher. The Michael A. Russo Memorial Scholarship Foundation would like to wish them a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and countless blessings.

The Foundation would also like to thank Nicole and Christopher for their generosity. In lieu of wedding favors, they chose to make a donation to the Foundation, a gesture that means so much to us.

We are deeply grateful that, on such a special day, they chose to honor Michael’s memory and support the Foundation that proudly carries his name. Michael was certainly with us in spirit as we celebrated this joyous occasion.

Nicole and Christopher, we love you both and wish you a lifetime of health, happiness, and love. ❤️

Today, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the Michael A. Russo Memorial Scholarship Foundation was proud to present a scholarship to Alessia Vanacore, a graduating student from Ridgefield Memorial High School who will be pursuing a career in nursing.

The scholarship was awarded by Jonathan Schmitt of the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, along with Foundation Board Members Christine Russo and Dr. Gino Ramundo.

We are honored to support Alessia as she begins this exciting new chapter and continues her education in a field dedicated to caring for others. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment to helping people make her a deserving recipient of our scholarship.

We wish Alessia all the best in her future studies and every success as she works toward achieving her goals. We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the lives of others through her nursing career.

On Wednesday, May 27, the Michael A. Russo Memorial Scholarship Foundation proudly presented three scholarships to outstanding seniors from Cliffside Park High School who will be continuing their studies in the medical field.

The scholarships were presented by Jonathan Schmitt and Jessica Russo.

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything for our nation.
