Brother Leonard Franklin Slye (aka Roy Rogers) was born in Cincinnati, near the banks of the Ohio, in a tenement building, located where Riverfront Stadium would later be built.
Rogers would joke that he was born at second base.

• Blue Lodge: He was initiated into Hollywood Lodge No. 355 in Los Angeles on April 15, 1946, and was raised to the degree of Master Mason on June 27 later that year.
• The Scottish Rite: He became a 32nd-degree Mason in 1950 through the Los Angeles Scottish Rite. He was ultimately coroneted a 33rd-Degree Inspector General Honorary in 1979—the highest degree achievable in the Scottish Rite.
• The Shriners: In 1950, he joined the Al Malaikah Shrine Temple. He was deeply passionate about the Shriners' philanthropy, frequently visiting patients at the Shriners Children's Hospitals and even bringing his famous horse, Trigger, inside to cheer up sick children.
• Other Affiliations: He was a Knight Templar (York Rite) and received the DeMolay Legion of Honor
