Yesterday, we participatted in a wonderful 8-hour CPR and First Aid course. This amazing educational experience was sponsored by Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center to ensure our community stays prepared. Our instructor James Nease provided perfect guidance throughout this vital training session. We learned how to handle emergencies with confidence to keep our family, coworkers, and neighbors safe in the event of an emergency 🚑

that may actually save a life.

Thank you to those in attendance and those who were there in spirit for the HEARTS of Impact Celebration on yesterday. The Charm Barn Event Room was the perfect setting for our drop in reception. The Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center staff did an excellent job of preparing a nice spread. A huge thank you to the STEP UP Workgroup members in attendance . A very special thank you to Dr. Giovanni Shumake, Rev. Butch Taylor, Mrs. Elaine Davis Williams, and Region 2 PIPP Coordinator Audrey Wilkes for the warm words expressed during the event. It has truly been a pleasure to serve my hometown in this capacity, I am grateful to Sue Ferguson Laney of HEARTS for Families, Inc. and the late Mrs. Carolyn Fields for introducing me to the field of Prevention. This work in service to the community has enriched my life and brought me so many beautiful moments of joy. It is firm believe that it takes a village, May you believe the work you have done has made a difference in this community. Such a heartbreaking reality BUT you can be a part of the change.
Know someone that has had personality changes lateyl?
-have a conversation..or two
-know the resources available- 988 su***de prevention line
-listen to what they are saying and what their body language is saying
-be aware that the numbers are high

First responders deal with more trauma than we can imagine. Encourage them- always. Hug them- always. Let them know they are valued.

Last week I attended the 2026 Georgia School of Addiction Studies (GSAS) at the iconic Hyatt Regency Savannah hotel. Everyday was an opportunity to learn and grow in rhe field of Prevention which is constantly changing to keep up with trends. I have a book autographed by author Carlos Whittaker. I met Johnny Cupcakes. I learned so much from these gentlemen that I want to incorporate into both my personal and professional lives and share. Get ready!
