What a great week in the back country.

• we were able to mitigate timber on all 120 miles of our trails.
•we found over $1000 dollars worth of our orange and yellow poles.
•we significantly widened our winter trail system for safer groomer operating and winter use enjoyment.
•we cut down over 1000 trees in a 5 day period.

Unfortunately, the trees and the groomers keep getting wider and this project has been long overdue. Most of the cutting involved standing dead timber that was soon to fall on the trail.

The pictures below are on the Continental Divide trail affectionately called "tree hallway". The first pic is the "before" and the a second is "after".

Charlie Cammer our local groomer operator looks on as the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Saw team works both sides down hill from the divide while our our U.S. Forest Service partners walk uphill from USFS 412. This trail was so thick and overgrown we couldn't pick poles up on it during the summer.

Big thanks to all the volunteers who showed up to help this week especially Steamboat Lake & Pearl Lake State Parks Sandy Brenenstuhl. It takes Hahn's Peak Village to groom a snowmobile trail!

Day one in the books. Colorado Parks and Wildlife Saw Team with club volunteers and Steamboat Lake & Pearl Lake State Parks team members left the shop around 9AM and cut our way from Beaver Basin up the Ellis Trail. It took all day to mitigate up to the Farwell/Seedhouse intersection with 16 personell working as teams leapfrogging each other along the way.

Our U.S. Forest Service partners left Seedhouse Road via lower Diamond Park and will return tomorrow to track from Diamond Park to the Farwell intersection.

The goal was 20 feet of trail width for our snow cats to comfortably operate in. Fresh diamonds were hung and everything.

Thanks to Hahns Peak Cafe for feeding this hungry crew tonight and opening for us on a day off.

For any volunteers that can help with trail mitigation next week meet at the state park "shop" at 61855 RCR 129 at 8:30 AM Monday 6/15. We will lay out the plan for the day and week, goals and logistics.

Be prepared for an all day adventure moving timber off winter grooming routes. If you have a OHV, this would be a great tool for the day and you can use it in the National Forest. Make sure it has a current sticker. (You can get them at the Steamboat Lake State Park visitor center) Don't be THAT guy! Your registration dollars are what helps make events like this possible.

There will be trail work every day during the week and no reasonable offer to help will be refused. Partners in this effort are U.S. Forest Service Steamboat Lake & Pearl Lake State Parks North Routt Snow Riders Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Volunteers needed! Our club is looking for anyone who can help with timber mitigation on our winter trail system the week of June 15th.

In a public/public/public coordinated effort, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Steamboat Lake & Pearl Lake State Parks, and the US Forest Service will be helping North Routt Snow Riders clear problematic timber that negatively impacts our grooming operations each winter.

We need volunteers to help move slash, cut timber, lead working party's to the correct trail and trim nagging, low hanging branches that swat at our snowcats during grooming.

Please contact Larry at 303-588-7258 or DM us.

Sharing this for our Forest Service partners. Contact them for any interest in helping. Your OHV registration dollars flow back to them and clearing trails helps all seasons of back country access.

Also, gates have been closed until trails dry out. Please respect and obey all closures.

2026 will go down as one of the worst, and yes, probably the worst, snow season ever. That said, the gates have been closed at 550 & 129.

The lack of snow forced us to cancel our Poker Run. However the snow club was still able to sponsor Pivotal Impact’s Together We Ride event thanks to numerous sponsors that asked to pass along their Poker Run sponsorship dollars to the event. Below a thank you we received. It’s great to see the impact this had for numerous businesses (listed below) and individuals.

From Pivotal Impact:
Thank you for ensuring that Pivotal’s Third Annual “Together We Ride” Snowmobile,

Education & Wellness Retreat provided a powerful, healing experience for Military and First Responders!

Your exceptionally generous contribution helped make this program possible.

This year, we hosted 13 Active Duty Military, Military Veterans, and First Responders, and 3 spouse/partners. Also in attendance were 4 Military Veterans, and 1 recently-retired law enforcement officer, all who served as Speakers and Peer Supporters—proving to be one of the most valuable aspects of our Retreat model.

Post-Retreat Evaluations resulted in an average score of 9.85, with highly favorable comments about the Program’s value compared to other mental health/wellness programs that the participants had attended.
