I sat down a couple of weeks ago with Eliy Simmer, a local cancer survivor who turned her experience into a nonprofit to help others - Eliy's Sunflowers - and who also happens to be Miss Michigan Teen USA!
Eliy is far more than just a pretty face. The most beautiful thing about Eliy is her grateful heart, her dedication to helping others, and her willingness to share what she has learned along the way.
I promise you, this young woman is going to change the world.

A building so iconic, Taylor & Travis chose it as their wedding venue.

Madison Square Garden, in its current state, was built in 1968.

58 years ago.

Somehow, it's still 𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳 than 2 of the chemotherapy drugs in the Ewing's Sarcoma treatment protocol.

Cyclophosphamide was approved in 1959. Vincristine was approved in 1963.

Both are still part of the standard treatment plan for kids diagnosed with Ewing’s today.

That’s the part we can’t get past.

Arenas get rebuilt (for the 4th time!). Technology gets upgraded. Entire industries move forward.

But kids with Ewing’s Sarcoma are still being treated with drugs from the 50s and 60s.

Our 6th ALSF lemonade stand was a success. Between hosting our lemonade stand and online donations, we raised just over $6000. This year was a bit emotional for me. Several people asked who Charlotte and Harper were. 😢 It was encouraging to introduce sweet Charlotte, but heartbreaking to share my beloved Harper’s story. I miss my girl so very much, but I'm honored to continue doing the things she was so passionate about. Her giving, loving heart and soul will always be with me.
