In Part 2, The Humanization Project is joined by the Legal Aid Justice Center to talk about garnishments, fines and fees, deferred payments, and what you need to know when dealing with court debt.

🚨 Virginia — this is important.

If you have a felony conviction, what you’ve been told about your voting rights may no longer be accurate.

Virginia’s voting rights rules changed on September 11, 2026, and many Virginians with felony convictions may now be eligible to register and vote — including people currently on probation or parole.

We’re sharing this so people know their rights, understand the new rules, and know where to turn if they run into problems registering or voting.

Some voices don’t just belong in the conversation — they belong in the classroom.

We’re proud to welcome **Shebri Dillon** to the Humanization Classroom, where she’ll be helping teach tomorrow’s professionals what the criminal legal system actually looks and feels like from the inside.

Shebri has lived it. She has written about it. She has fought through it. And now, she’s turning that lived experience into education.

Her powerful piece, “Female Is a Felony,” puts words to realities that are too often invisible to the people making decisions about incarcerated women.

This is what humanization looks like: bringing lived experience into the rooms where the next generation of professionals is learning how to serve, advocate, and lead.

We’re honored to have her voice in the classroom. And we can’t wait for students to hear it.

I will never forget how pitiful her voice sounded. She was begging to not have to do it—a grown woman pleading for her dignity. It broke my heart and made fire fly through my soul to have to listen, unable to help her. I stared at the closed door, muffled prayers for her on my lips. As I prayed, I...
