On Saturday, WFU joined community members from across western Wisconsin at Uniting West Wisconsin: A Regional Response to Data Centers. The event brought together neighbors, local leaders, musicians, advocates, and special guest Charlie Berens for a conversation about the future of our communities and the impacts of large-scale data center developments in Wisconsin.

We were proud to have a presence at the event and to share information about our policy priorities and member-led advocacy. WFU board member Ed Gorrell took the stage to read our policy regarding data centers, and the enthusiastic response from the crowd was a great reminder that people care deeply about having a voice in decisions that affect their communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, asked questions, shared their thoughts, and took the time to learn more about our work. We appreciate opportunities like this to connect with members and neighbors across the region and to continue important conversations about protecting our land, water, rural communities, and local decision-making.

During last week's ACE Summit in Washington, D.C., WFU representatives met with some of Wisconsin's elected officials, including Senator Tammy Baldwin.

They were thankful for the opportunity, during International Year of the Women Farmer, to share perspective on how strengthening domestic markets, reducing farmer costs, re-instating mandatory country-of-origin labeling, delivering fairness for farming, and stopping corporate monopolies supports our family farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.

They asked for Senator Baldwin's support on S. 2338 (Strengthening Local Food Security Act), S. 421 (American Beef Labeling Act), S. 1312 (Meat and Poultry Special Investigator Act), S. 3068 (Right to Repair law). Additionally, they asked for Senator Baldwin to oppose harmful Packers and Stockyards Act policy riders.

Many thanks to Senator Baldwin for co-sponsoring of S. 4152 (Fertilizer Transparency Act), and for her continued support for permanent legislation for year-round, nationwide E-15.
