Illinois is only ONE of THREE states to pass legislation for rideshare drivers to form a union. We are leading the way, alongside Massachusetts and California, to create industry-wide standards that everyone can stand to benefit from.

Más de 100,000 conductores de rideshare en Illinois están un paso más cerca de tener una voz real en el trabajo. The Rideshare Drivers' Union Bill (HB 5090) fue aprobado por ambas cámaras de la Legislatura de Illinois, marcando una victoria histórica para los trabajadores en todo el estado.

A historic victory for Illinois rideshare drivers!

More than 100,000 Illinois rideshare drivers are one step closer to having a real voice on the job. The Rideshare Drivers’ Union Bill (HB 5090) has passed both chambers of the Illinois Legislature, marking a historic victory for workers across the state.

This legislation gives drivers the right to form a union and collectively advocate for better pay, improved working conditions, greater transparency, and a stronger voice in the decisions that impact their livelihoods every day.

When workers organize, workers win.

HISTORY MADE. In the final hours of the 2026 Legislative Session at 2 AM, more than 100,000 rideshare drivers across Illinois won the right to form a union through the passage of the Rideshare Drivers’ Union Bill.

This victory was made possible because drivers organized! Drivers showed up at the Capitol week after week. Drivers shared painful, personal stories about low pay, unsafe conditions, unjust deactivations, and the struggle to support their families while these companies made billions. Drivers built community in an industry designed to keep workers isolated, and together, drivers made history.

The Illinois Drivers Alliance sends a big thank you to Chief Sponsors State Senator Ram Villivalam and State Representative Yolonda Morris, along with Senate President Don Harmon, Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch, Governor JB Pritzker, and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton for their leadership in helping get this historic legislation across the finish line. Illinois is proving once again that when workers stand together, we win.
