Drivers take on all the risk, but when something goes wrong, there’s no support. Also: gentrification, colon cancer screening, violence in hospitals and the Bears.

Today at the Illinois State Capitol, we advocated for our Rideshare Drivers’ Union Bill while Springfield celebrated Latino Unity Day. With many rideshare drivers coming from Latino and immigrant communities, protecting workers’ right to organize and have a voice on the job remains essential.

We are proud to recognize the vital contributions Latino workers make to the rideshare industry and to continue fighting for dignity, fairness, and respect for all workers!

Thank you to all the legislators that stand with us!

Rideshare drivers are already scraping by on shrinking wages. Now, they’re being hit with soaring costs at the pump, making it even harder to earn a living. No one should have to wonder how they’ll afford gas just to do their job.

It doesn’t have to be this way. With a union, drivers can negotiate wages that keep up with rising costs. When drivers are paid fairly, they stay on the road making rides more reliable and accessible for everyone.

This May Day, rideshare drivers took to the streets of Chicago, rallying and marching for our rights and to protect our communities. Immigrant workers are being especially targeted, and we stood united to demand that every worker, no matter their background, deserves dignity and justice on the job and beyond.

As we organize for our union, May Day is a powerful reminder that workers are the backbone of our cities. A union voice is how we win real protections, fair conditions, and a say in our future.

We’re not backing down because when we FIGHT, we WIN.

NEWS UPDATE: As we approach May Day, 100,000+ rideshare drivers across Illinois are standing together to demand a voice on the job. Despite generating billions for the state’s economy, drivers continue to face low wages, sudden deactivations, and growing threats from automation. This May Day, we’re calling on lawmakers to pass the Rideshare Drivers’ Union Bill.

A new study shows rideshare drivers generate $7.7 billion annually for Illinois, yet too many are struggling to make ends meet. The fight for union rights isn’t just about drivers, it’s about strengthening communities across our state.
