Today, we were at People’s Independent Church of Christ, 5856 West Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90043, putting BLESSINGS IN ACTION into action alongside some incredible community partners.
This is what NO TALK—JUST ACTION looks like.
Everybody talks about change. Everybody says they want better for their community. But change doesn’t happen because we talk about it.
CHANGE HAPPENS WHEN WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Today, we showed up. We opened our hearts, rolled up our sleeves, served our community, met real needs, provided real resources, encouraged real people, and created real impact. ❤️💚🌸
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the pastor of People’s Independent Church of Christ, where this powerful event was held, for opening the doors of the church 7 days a week and welcoming us into a space where love, faith, service, and community could come together.
We are grateful for the pastor’s powerful message centered around LOVE, LIFE, and UNITY, reminding us that life is too short to hate. His words encouraged us to choose love over hate, compassion over judgment, forgiveness over resentment, and unity over division while we have the opportunity to make a difference.
We were also blessed to hear from our other incredible speakers, who shared powerful and meaningful words about the importance of taking care of our communities, looking out for one another, being present for those in need, and taking responsibility for the communities we call home.
Their words challenged us to do more than simply talk about solutions. They reminded us that our communities need people who are willing to show up, serve, encourage, protect, mentor, and pour back into others.
🌸💗💚 SPECIAL RECOGNITION TO THE LADIES OF ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INCORPORATED (AKA)! 💗💚🌸
We were honored to have the presence and support of the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, representing a longstanding legacy of sisterhood, service, leadership, and commitment to community.
We were also blessed to witness the continuation of that legacy through Morgan Scott of AKA, daughter of our very own 2nd District Cook County Commissioner Michael Scott Jr. and niece of Alderwoman Monique Scott of the 24th Ward.
Morgan continues her family’s legacy of leadership, service, and commitment to community, showing the importance of empowering the next generation to step forward, serve, lead, and make a difference. 🌸✊🏾
And we cannot forget the PROFOUND WORDS OF OUR VERY OWN CO-FOUNDER AND VICE PRESIDENT, MR. TERRY YOUNG! ✊🏾🔥
Mr. Young openly shared his testimony and gave GOD ALL THE GLORY for a second chance at freedom and a second chance at life.
His testimony was a powerful reminder that your past does not have to define your future. A second chance can become a new purpose, a new mission, and an opportunity to pour back into others.
Mr. Young reminded us that when God gives you another opportunity, you can take that opportunity and turn it into a testimony that inspires someone else.
THAT is what service looks like.
THAT is what restoration looks like.
THAT is what faith in action looks like.
Today was more than an event—it was a reminder of what can happen when people come together with love, faith, purpose, and a willingness to serve.
No spotlight needed.
No applause required.
No excuses accepted.
JUST ACTION.
If you see a need—DO SOMETHING.
If you see someone struggling—HELP.
If you see your community hurting—SHOW UP.
If you want change—BE THE CHANGE.
Our communities don’t need more promises.
THEY NEED PEOPLE WHO WILL SHOW UP.
Today, our partners, volunteers, speakers, leaders, the ladies of AKA, and our community members proved what can happen when people stop asking:
“Who’s going to do something?”
…and start saying:
“WE WILL.” ✊🏾🔥
That is who we are.
That is what we believe.
That is what we do.
WE SERVE.
WE BUILD.
WE UPLIFT.
WE PROTECT.
WE ENCOURAGE.
WE POUR INTO PEOPLE.
WE TAKE CARE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
AND WE DO IT TOGETHER. 🤝🏾✊🏾💚🌸
From Chicago to Los Angeles, the message is simple:
LOVE IS THE MISSION.
SERVICE IS THE ACTION.
UNITY IS THE POWER.
COMMUNITY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY.
AND OUR BLESSINGS ARE MEANT TO BE PUT INTO ACTION.
