Today is International Day of the Girl Child, but at Pretty Purposed, every single day is dedicated to making sure girls have the safe, supportive, and empowering spaces they deserve. 🌎💜 Established by the United Nations in 2011, this day focuses attention on the challenges girls face and affirms their right to a safe, educated, and healthy life, not just during these critical formative years, but as they grow into the powerful women they are destined to become. 👑 When girls are effectively supported, they have the potential to change the world as empowered young women, future leaders, entrepreneurs, mentors, and so much more! ✨

Last week, Pretty Purposed kicked off programs across 24 school and community sites in Sussex, Petersburg, Hopewell, Dinwiddie, Richmond and beyond, and every single one of those sites is proof that investing in girls creates ripples that extend far beyond the Girls Circle! 🙌🏾🎉 Celebrate girls with us today by making a donation or volunteering your time because our girls need your support to thrive. Our Prince George County site got a head start on community by coming together for an introduction and orientation to kick off the year ✨ Participants had the chance to get to know their facilitators, connect with fellow circle members, and get a real feel for what Pretty Purposed looks like at their site before sessions begin. 👑 We cannot wait to see what this year brings for your girls at N.B. Dinwiddie County is ready to go! 🌟 Sunnyside Elementary, Sutherland Elementary, Southside Elementary, and Dinwiddie Elementary welcomed girls and their families at recent Meet and Greets 🌸 Families had the chance to meet program facilitators, learn about what Pretty Purposed looks like at their specific site, and build those early connections that make the circle feel like home from day one.

Our Sussex sites recently kicked off their program year with Meet and Greets at the Sussex Community Site, Sussex Middle School, and Sussex High School 🎉 Families met their facilitators, connected with one another, and got a feel for what Pretty Purposed looks like at their specific site before sessions began. 🌸👑 Before the growth, breakthroughs, and big moments happen, every girl deserves to walk in already feeling welcomed, seen, and like she belongs.

🌟💜 We are so excited to kick off the 2026-2027 Pretty Purposed program year! This year we are showing up bigger and broader than ever before, serving girls across 21 school sites and 3 community-based sites spanning Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Surry, Hopewell, Prince George, Richmond, Chesterfield, and even South Carolina. 🗺️✨

From elementary schools to middle and high schools, Girl Circles are meeting girls where they are, during the school day, after school, and in the heart of their communities, because every girl deserves access to a safe space to grow, lead, and thrive. 👑 Swipe to see the full map of where Pretty Purposed is planting seeds this year. 🎉

Every girl who walks into a Pretty Purposed program deserves to show up fueled, focused, and ready to grow. Healthy, individually-wrapped snacks aren't just a small line item, they're part of how we set the tone for every session. Keeping our sites stocked all year takes real coordination: ordering across multiple sites, timing deliveries around program dates, and more, and it comes with a real cost. A huge thank you to Dinwiddie County Public Schools and Sussex County Public Schools for helping us solve this by allowing us to order snacks through their school nutritionists, giving us access to healthy options at better pricing.

Now, we're hosting drop-off days for snack donation and we would love your help!

A new Pretty Purposed program year is right around the corner and we are recruiting for program participants to join our Girl Circles community for the 2026-2027 school year. 👑 Whether at one of our school sites or community-based locations, Girl Circles are a space where girls in 5th grade and up can grow, be themselves, build confidence, and connect with a community of young women. ✨

Sessions focus on identity, self-esteem, healthy relationships, communication, mindfulness, leadership, and so much more. ✈️ Bon Voyage, Tatiana & Laura! Two of Our Alumni Leadhers Are Ghana-Bound 🌍

We are so proud to share that two of our very own Alumni Leadhers, Tatiana and Laura, are currently in Ghana as part of Her Journey Home, an educational and cultural experience organized by our partners at Girls For A Change! Both young women have been a part of the Pretty Purposed family since 5th grade, growing through our Girl Circles program and stepping into leadership as Alumni Leadhers.

Watching them take this next step on a global stage is exactly what this work is all about. 👑 They'll be immersed in culture, history, and community through early August, and we cannot wait to hear everything they bring back with them. 📚

🎉🚤 Pretty Purposed pulled up to The Boathouse in Hopewell to give our facilitators and mentors the celebration they truly deserve! 💖✨ These incredible women have shown up week after week, circle after circle, pouring their time, wisdom, and hearts into our girls and we wanted to make sure they knew just how seen and appreciated they are. 🙌🏾👑 To every facilitator and mentor who made this year what it was, thank you for being the backbone of Pretty Purposed and the living example of what it means to show up with purpose. Here is to a well earned celebration and an even bigger year ahead! 🌟
