We were so incredibly honored to host The Hundred Club of Mass., Inc. this past Sunday for a special family day here at Elysium Acres Horse Sanctuary! 🐴❤️

It was a joy welcoming these wonderful families to the sanctuary for an afternoon packed with farm exploration, meeting our rescue horses, shared meals, and so many smiles. Watching everyone connect, explore, and enjoy time together on the farm was pure fun and profoundly moving for our whole team.

Thank you to the incredible team at The Hundred Club of Mass. and all the families who spent their day with us. You bring so much strength, heart, and community wherever you go, and we are grateful to be a place where those memories are made!

White markings on a horse’s face and legs have sensitive pink skin underneath that sunburns quickly, which can lead to painful peeling, blistering, and inflammation.

Here is how you can protect them:

☀️ Use run-in sheds, barns, or shady areas to escape peak UV hours.

☀️ A full-face fly mask with a nose extension protects sensitive eyes and muzzles.

☀️ Use a waterproof, horse-safe sunscreen (or high-SPF, baby-safe option) on pink noses daily.

A lot of equestrians love some chrome on a horse, but it's important to remember that those beautiful white markings and the non-pigmented pink skin underneath are more likely to suffer from sunburn, especially in areas where the skin is more sensitive — like around the eyes and the nostrils.

The best thing to do is avoid sun exposure whenever possible!
