Curious about CEF’s plans for the future? Glad you asked! We are working hard to increase the resources available in our Community Resource Hub (open to all Delaware County residents). If your organization is looking for space to hold a meeting, training, community listening session, etc. please reach out to [email protected]

We are also happy to share that we will be continuing our STEP and Blueprint for Success job readiness programs (see our previous posts for some history on those programs). Our out-of-school-time programming will emphasize college & career preparedness with an emphasis on mentoring and life-skills development, and we are THRILLED to announce...we are expanding our programs to include middle school students! 🎉 👏 ⁣

We are so excited for the future! If you are interested in partnering with us, or have a child or know someone that could benefit from our programs or services, please reach out (contact info in our bio or on our website).⁣

Delco Gives Day is tomorrow, but you can donate now! Any donation amount is welcome and appreciated, but here are some examples of how your dollars can help us serve the Chester community:

-$10 covers the cost of a shelf-stable meal for our Community Resource Hub Care Closet
-$50 helps someone with an emergency need through our Phil Damiani Memorial Emergency Fund
-$100 covers the cost of a refurbished laptop for our digital skills students

Things have been busy around here! Between opening our Community Resource Hub, launching the Delco Resources online directory, adding the BOOST program to our out-of-school-time offerings, increasing technology access and digital skills with our Digital Navigator program, joining the Safer Schools Stronger Neighborhoods Coalition and the Together for Chester Coalition, all while continuing to operate our long-running STEP and Blueprint for Success job readiness programs. Oh, and don’t forget about facilitating the Delaware County Communities that Care (CTC) Network, holding monthly meetings for individuals and organizations interested in prevention-based strategies and services that support the Delco community (since 1995!).⁣

Visit our website for more information on our programs and services. Check out www.delcoresources.org for our online directory that includes 600+ resources for Delco residents & organizations.⁣

In order to help support this work, we are participating in Delco Gives Day (May 6-7, 2026) to raise funds for our Phil Damiani Memorial Emergency Fund (a fund to help Delco residents with emergency needs), purchase laptops to give away to our digital skills students, and to support fun & educational field trips for our out-of-school-time programs. If you are interested in helping us with this, please consider making a donation to our Delco Gives Day page at https://www.delcogives.org/organization/Chester-Education-Foundation (link also in bio).⁣

CEF’s longest running program is STEP (Success Training & Employment Program). Launched in 1988, technically 1 year before CEF was incorporated, STEP has run continuously since then and is responsible for placing more than 7000 young people in jobs and contributing more than $11,760,000 of payroll dollars to the Chester economy!⁣

In addition to STEP, CEF has operated out-of-school time programs for 37+ years, allowing us to collaborate with so many great partners, including CUSD, Chester Charter Scholars Academy, the City of Chester, Widener University, Swarthmore College, Boys & Girls Club of Chester, and many more.⁣

Feeling nostalgic too? Take a walk down memory lane with us! If you have participated in any of our programs in the past, we would love to hear about how it has impacted you, any fond memories, etc. Reach out by email ([email protected]). We are collecting stories to share soon.⁣

STAYIN’ ALIVE! Last week, we hosted a hands-only CPR training from the American Heart Association and Main Line Health. Thank you to our amazing instructor, Jeff, for teaching us about the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest, the importance of AEDs and much more!⁣

Thanks to Main Line Health, we have a CPR Anywhere training kit available in Chester Education Foundation’s Community Resource Hub! If you would like to use our space for a CPR training or borrow the kit to host your own training, please reach out to [email protected] for more information. ⁣
