To equip lives for lasting change through a Christ-centered home. Through school, community, and church related activites, the influence of positive people is a part of their lives. Preparing the children for the time to leave Cherokee Home takes good, wholesome and dedicated people. They help construct the atmosphere and environment in our rural community. Meeting children where they are is the goal of Cherokee Home. To meet them, love them, and care for them: and keep Christ as the center of all things.

The study area in our new Transitional Living Center is being put to good use as our students work on their online dual-credit college classes. It’s exciting to see this space helping our young adults take steps toward their educational goals and future independence!

We’re celebrating a new chapter for Robert and Vickie Baugh! ❤️
For the past 18 years, Robert has faithfully served Cherokee Home as our Spiritual Life Minister. His connection to Cherokee Home is especially meaningful—Robert was once a child in care here in the early 70's before being adopted. His life story and love for this ministry have made his service here truly special.
Robert is moving into a new role as our Field Development Officer, and the biggest change is that he and Vickie have moved from campus into their recently purchased home in Belton. This move will allow them to be closer to family and available to help them in a greater way.
While their address may be changing, their commitment to Cherokee Home is not. Robert and Vickie will continue to be a vital part of the Cherokee Home family and ministry.
We gathered together as a family to wish them well as they begin this new chapter. We are thankful for the years they have shared with us and are excited for what lies ahead! ❤️

Preparing for independence is an important part of life at Cherokee Home. ❤️
Through our Transitional Living Program, our young adults are learning practical skills they’ll need after high school—like making their own appointments, communicating clearly, checking their schedules, and committing to a date and time.

Career exploration and readiness are also important pieces of the program, from college prep tests and online applications to exploring what comes next. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Richard W. Zipp Transitional Living Center to make these opportunities possible. Your generosity is helping equip lives for lasting change through a Christ-centered home.

We’re excited to welcome David Roache to the Cherokee Home family as our new Development Officer! 💙
David and his wife, Dana, bring a heart for children and a passion for childcare ministry to Cherokee Home. They previously served as houseparents at another children’s home, giving them firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the importance of providing children with a safe, loving, and supportive place to grow.
In his new role, he’ll be helping with our website, database, and other technology needs, while also building relationships with churches, donors, and friends of Cherokee Home.
David and Dana are also enjoying a new adventure as parents to their 4-month-old son, Silas! We’re so thankful to have this family joining us and look forward to seeing how God uses David’s gifts and their passion for children to serve the ministry of Cherokee Home.

♟️ We had a special visitor at Cherokee Home Sunday afternoon! CJ, a high school student from Llano, spent the afternoon sharing his love and knowledge of chess with some of our kids who were interested in learning the game.

We’re grateful for young people like CJ who are willing to share their time, talents, and interests with our kids. Thank you, CJ, for spending your Sunday with us and teaching our kids something new! ❤️

🐷 The pigs are here! Our Pig Program is getting ready to kick off, and the kids are excited! They’ve been busy hauling sand and getting the pens ready for their baby pigs.

This hands-on vocational program teaches responsibility, animal care, and showmanship—and we can’t wait to see what this year brings! 🐷

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Cross Country is underway at Cherokee Home! Our junior high and high school runners are putting in the work—getting up early for practice, setting goals, and pushing themselves to accomplish great things!

Most meets are on Wednesdays, with junior high and high school girls running 2 miles and high school boys taking on 3 miles. We’re proud of these kids for showing up, working hard, and giving it their all! 💪❤️

What a fun Homecoming Friday! 🏈❤️💙 We had a great time cheering on the Cherokee Indians as they took the win over Cranfills Gap!

Our kids were everywhere—on the field, cheering on the field and in the stands, and enjoying all the Homecoming fun. We loved having alumni back to visit, and we’re so proud of our seniors who were recognized with their families at halftime. Some of our kids were even chosen by their classmates to represent their class on the Homecoming Court! 👑

Definitely a night full of school spirit, smiles, and great memories! ❤️💙
