Cherokee Home for Children

Cherokee Home for Children OUR VISION:
A world where lives are transformed in Christ and families are strengthened for generations.

OUR MISSION:
To equip lives for lasting change through a Christ-centered home. Through school, community, and church related activites, the influence of positive people is a part of their lives. Preparing the children for the time to leave Cherokee Home takes good, wholesome and dedicated people. They help construct the atmosphere and environment in our rural community. Meeting children where they

are is the goal of Cherokee Home. To meet them, love them, and care for them: and keep Christ as the center of all things.

🎓 Congratulations, Gunner! 🎓

We’re so proud of Gunner for earning his Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Power and Controls Technology from Texas State Technical College!

He’s already started his career at Clark Roofing as an ACM/CAD draftsman, machine operator, and salesman. And this October, he’ll marry his fiancée, Lauren! 💍❤️

We’re so proud of the young man Gunner has become and excited to watch him step into this next chapter. Congratulations, Gunner! We’re cheering you on every step of the way! 💙

This month’s Senior Sessions in the Transitional Living Program focused on real-life budgeting and independent living skills! 💙

Our teens planned, budgeted for, shopped for, and prepared two meals for their cottage—all while staying within a set budget. 🍽️🛒

We wrapped up the month with a grocery store scavenger hunt, comparing name-brand and generic prices and deciding what they could afford to keep in their carts. It was especially interesting to see what each girl considered a necessity when tough choices had to be made!

We’re proud of our seniors as they build the practical skills and confidence, they’ll need for the future!

🏈❤️ Football season is officially here!

We kicked things off last week with Meet the Indians and our first scrimmage. It was so much fun watching our boys hit the field, cheering on our cheerleaders, and seeing the fans come together to support them!

Football is truly a community event, and we love being part of it. Here’s to a great season! Go Indians! 🏈💙❤️

Thanks to Valerie Valdez for capturing all of these fun memories on camera!

As a part of their in-service this year, Cherokee ISD teachers and staff came to campus for a special tour! We were so grateful to welcome them and give them an opportunity to see where our children live, learn, and grow. 💙

We are so grateful for the strong partnership between Cherokee ISD and CHC. The school personnel and teachers care deeply about our children and work tirelessly to help them succeed. We are thankful for the wonderful relationship between our CHC staff, parents, and the school community. Together, we are making a difference! 🍎📚❤️

For months, we have watched walls go up, rooms take shape, and a vision become a reality. Finally, for the Valdez family and 6 youth in care, Move-In Day has come!

The Richard W. Zipp Transitional Living Center was built for young people entering an important season of life. Here they will continue learning practical life skills, building confidence, strengthening their faith, and preparing for life beyond our campus.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this possible. You didn’t simply build a house. You created a place where young people can be equipped for the transition to adulthood. Now they get to call it home. We can’t wait to see all that God has in store for them!

Please join CHC in welcoming Jon Williams, our new Clinical Care Coordinator!

Jon and his wife, Meghan, have been married for 13 years and have two daughters, Claire (5) and Nora (19 months). The family is enjoying getting settled into the Cherokee community, with Claire recently starting kindergarten at Cherokee ISD.

Jon is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience in ministry, victim services, crisis intervention, and behavioral health. In his new role at CHC, he will help coordinate the mental health needs of the children and strengthen communication and collaboration among providers, staff, residents, and other members of their care team.

The Williams family is excited to be part of CHC and says they already feel welcomed and at home!
